The choosening really brought some heavy hitters to the book nook this time--these tomes pack a punch! Then Bailey dives into John Krakauer's part true crime, part history UNDER THE BANNER OF HEAVEN. There's plenty more in this episode, including a very intense job interview, some truly wild facts, and GAK! -
The Liars' Survivor
THE LIAR’S CLUB by MARY KARR /
SURVIVOR by CHUCK PAHLANIUK
Tell the truth, Page-Os, you’re excited for this one! In this episode, Toby reads Mary Karr’s THE LIAR'S CLUB, a memoir so powerful that it is rumored to have revitalized the genre as a whole in the 1990s, and Bailey has her first Chuck Pahlaniuk experience (what!? I know, right?) with SURVIVOR, his slightly lesser-known but possibly-just-as-good-or-BETTER follow up to FIGHT CLUB. Plus, we get some advice about visiting Istanbul from Andrew, hear about Toby’s shame, and play a game where we say, “UM, ACTUALLY…” quite a lot!
Customer Reviews
Charming and a great source for recommendations (or shame)
I’m so glad I found this podcast. All of the hosts are witty, charming, kind, and down to earth. It has definitely helped to soothe a lot of anxiety while also expanding my reading horizons. What they call shame I call more opportunities to escape during this slow and steady apocalypse. Too dark? Then I’ll say this: It’s like being a part of a cozy chat with friends about what they’ve been reading. So thank you to the friends I’ve never met.
Pale Blue Fear
The most boring episode ever! Step it up guys!
Pure bookish delight!
I’ve recently noticed myself unconsciously applying the “elf’s and orcs” review system to my recent reads. I blame this amusing habit on the fact that I devoured the entire To Read List backlist over the last few weeks. Now if only I could make similar progress on my own To Read List shelf …(okay, yes, shelves)….
