Episode 4: Trauma and Our Relationship with God

Episode 4: Trauma and Our Relationship with God

Through the past 4 weeks we have been diving deeper and deeper into all the areas trauma can affect a person's wellbeing. As we wrap up this limited series podcast, we get to talk about the deepest aspect of our lives-- our relationship with God. How can our response to trauma veer us away from God? How does the enemy of our souls capitalize on our hurt to drag us away from God? And How can forgiveness be the foundation to healing from trauma?

We explore all of this and more leading up to The Trauma Dilemma Conference taking place on Sat. July 24th at 9am. Registration for in-person or online is below!

    Episode 3: Trauma and Ministry

    Episode 3: Trauma and Ministry

One of the most effective tools in healing is community and being around people. Contrary to what we may feel while still hurting from trauma, we cannot allow ourselves to be isolated. Communal relationships are imperative to our emotional health and rehabilitation. Thankfully, God provides not only His power to heal us, but also a community of love, truth and growth via the church. In this week's episode, we dive into how healing from trauma can affect ministry and how the church community can play a part in our healing process.

    Episode 2: Trauma and Community

    Episode 2: Trauma and Community

If you've ever heard the phrase "hurt people hurt people," then you're probably familiar with the pain sometimes community can bring. In this episode, we talk about how sometimes our behaviors and reactions can actually be a result of trauma that has happened to us. Sometimes we get triggered but, also sometimes we trigger others. What do we do when faced with someone's triggered reaction to something we've said? What do we do when we've been triggered by another person in our community? And even deeper than that, what do we do when we feel like trauma is affecting our calling and heart to serve others?

Join the Bronx Section Youth Ministries and SED Mental Health Team once again as we dive into what trauma looks like in a regular day to day and also how God still wants to use us even though we're healing from traumatic experiences.

    Guests:

Lesly Moreno, LCAT, ATR - BC | Niordys Lebron, LMHC | Zoraima Rodríguez, MC LMHC | Natalia Alcantara, LCSW | Vanessa Ríos, MC MHC- LP | Idalia Catalán-Fryer, MA | Breana K Vazquez (Host)

Episode 1: Trauma and the Church

Episode 1: Trauma and the Church

According to pre-pandemic statistics at least 70% of adults have experience at least one traumatic event. The National Child Traumatic Stress Network has found that over 40% of students in the U.S. have been exposed to some sort of trauma as well. You can imagine how much more those numbers will increase once 2020's data is counted.

Trauma is more common than we realize, yet we still treat it like that one bad that tomorrow will wash away. For many of us, that one bad day cascades into weeks, months and years. One traumatic event or maybe several have driven us to a place of physical, emotional, mental and/or spiritual survival and we need help navigating those waters of deep pain.

In this episode, Bronx Section Youth Ministries and the SED Mental Health Team sit together to discuss what trauma really is, what does it look like in our lives and how has the Church especially handled trauma thus far; what can we do better and how can we seek the face of God to be made well.

    Guests:

Lesly Moreno, LCAT, ATR - BC | Niordys Lebron, LMHC | Zoraima Rodríguez, MC LMHC | Natalia Alcantara, LCSW | Vanessa Ríos, MC MHC- LP | Idalia Catalán-Fryer, MA | Breana K Vazquez (Host)
