The Exciting World of Dog Sports

The Exciting World of Dog Sports

Have you ever wondered how you can deepen your bond with your dog while keeping them physically and mentally stimulated?

In this episode, I dive into the thrilling world of dog sports. Historically, humans bred dogs to perform specific tasks—herding, hunting, guarding, you name it. But as society has evolved, the need for these canine jobs has diminished. Enter dog sports: the modern-day answer to giving our furry friends a sense of purpose and a way to channel their natural instincts in a fun and controlled environment.

But how do you know what sport is the best for your dog? Join me for this episode as I discuss a variety of sports that cater to different interests and abilities. I highlight how each activity not only keeps your dog fit, but also enriches your relationship with them. The sports I share in this episode are:

Agility: Navigating obstacle courses with speed and accuracy. Flyball: Relay races that combine jumps and ball retrieval. Herding: Working with livestock, a test of instinct and training. Canine Freestyle: A mix of obedience, tricks, and dance with your dog. Nose Work: Harnessing a dog's natural scenting abilities. Barn Hunt: Locating rats in a barn-like setting, a safe and fun search sport. Lure Coursing: Chasing a mechanically operated lure, great for sighthounds.
Engaging in dog sports is an incredible way to enhance your dog's life and strengthen the bond you share. Whether you're competitive or just looking for a fun way to exercise with your furry friend, there's a sport for every pup.

Staci has trained 2 of my dogs

I first used Staci 3 years ago and get compliments on what a perfect dog I have. Everyone loves her and my family calls her the Perfect Dog. She doesn’t bark at strange people or dogs. Never barks at home. Knows so many commands and is always looking to me for approval after completing directions. My second dog is a chihuahua and we all know what a reputation they have but because of Staci’s training people ask me if I’m sure she’s a chihuahua she minds her manners well.

I would never get another dog without professional training it’s a must to have a happy well adjusted pet which makes having one a pleasure. I look forward to the podcast as everyday we should be reinforcing our dogs training.

Maple Family ,

Family Dog Training

As a first-time pup family, Staci is a fantastic trainer for our puppy. Maple and our family enjoyed every session with her. Staci not only taught to Maple, but also educated us and our children on understanding a dog’s behaviors and how to address them properly. We are looking forward to listening to what tips she will offer on her new podcast to help develop our relationships with Maple even more!

Bijou’s Mom ,

Yay Staci

Glad to see you doing this podcast. Your training with Bijou was fun and fast. You know how to read the pups, predict behavior, and teach them quickly. The best - and funniest - was the bells on the door to go outside. You taught her in 10 minutes (with treats) to ring the bells, but you also said she might just ring the bells for a treat. You were right, but she’ll often ring the bells to go out, too. She knows to sit, down, stay, drop it, leave it, and more. Thank you.
