Mr. Rogers often talked about the importance of listening. How can we become better listeners in our own lives?

In his last moments, it is reported that he asked his wife if he was a “sheep,” referring to the Last Judgment in the Bible, when Jesus separates the good sheep from the bad goats. If Fred Rogers questioned his sheepyness, what hope do the rest of us have?

“I like you as your are”. Children need to hear that. I don’t think anybody can grow unless they are exactly as they are.

Do you see God as male or female?

Nothing is softer or more yielding than water. Yet given time, it can erode even the hardest stone. That's how the weak can defeat the strong, and the supple can win over the stiff. Everybody knows it, so why don't we apply it in our own lives?

If guns did not yet exist, what good or necessary reason would we have for inventing them?
