Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened

Supporting West Ham is never dull, you can always be sure of that.
In the space of just a few days our wonderful club came to within minutes of becoming the first team to beat Bayer Leverkusen this season, after putting in one of the best performances in the modern era, and then put in one of the worst performances in the modern era by losing 5-2 to Crystal Palace, having been 4-0 down after just 31 minutes.
As a result of being knocked out of the Europa League and losing so heavily at Selhurst Park, it's looking more and more likely that Moyes will leave the club once the season is over. Although no official confirmation has been made yet, we're already hearing reports of meetings with potential replacements being had, including Liverpool target Ruben Amorim and former Real Madrid, Sevilla and Wolves boss, Julen Lopetegui.
So this week, the lads talk through why Moyes' time is likely up, who they think should replace them and give their thoughts on the very chalk and cheese performances against Leverkusen and Crystal Palace.
    As always, thanks for listening!

Opposition View: "West Ham's lack of effort surprised me!" - Bayer Leverkusen (2nd leg), with Kevin Scheuren

Opposition View: "West Ham's lack of effort surprised me!" - Bayer Leverkusen (2nd leg), with Kevin Scheuren

After a really great chat with Bayer Leverkusen fan and podcaster, Kevin Scheuren, in Germany last week, Will caught up with him once again ahead of Thursday's second-leg at London Stadium.
Despite defending admirably for 85 minutes in the first-leg, Leverkusen's two late goals means we have a huge mountain to climb on Thursday if we're going to secure a place in the Europa League semi-final.
Kevin said last week that Leverkusen were going to beat the crap out of West Ham in the first-leg and he was pretty much correct in his prediction. While it wasn't a thrashing by any means, their 33 shots to our one says all you need to know about how the game played out. A repeat cannot happen this week and Kevin has urged David Moyes and West Ham to be braver in their attempts to become the first team to beat Xabi Alonso's side in any competition this season, after he was surprised at our lack of effort in trying to score a goal in the first-leg.
Once again, this is a great chat with Kevin, who has been a superb guest on the podcast over the last week.
And finally, congratulations to Kevin and Bayer Leverkusen for being crowned Bundesliga champions for the first time in their history. What an unbelievable achievement!
    Come on you Irons!

We've put our own hurdles in our own way

We've put our own hurdles in our own way

After losing 2-0 to both Bayer Leverkusen and Fulham over the last few days, West Ham's chances of competing in Europe for a fourth consecutive season are hanging by a thread.
We have a mountain to climb in the second-leg vs. the newly crowned Bundesliga champions and failure to beat Fulham at home means we're now reliant on the likes of Newcastle, Man United and Chelsea all slipping up in the race for a top-seven finish. If they don't it'll likely be a 9th placed finish and the end of our love affair with European competition.
But what has led to this after such a strong start to the season? It's a very similar situation to two years ago when a failure to invest in January led to the team running out of steam. It appears David Moyes and the club haven't learned their lesson, with a lack of options on the bench in recent weeks appearing to cost us.
And what does this all mean for David Moyes' future? It's hard to see how he remains in the job beyond the summer.
We discuss all of the above and more this week, with Leverkusen and Crystal Palace opposition views coming later this week.
    As always, thanks for listening!

Opposition View: "We're gonna beat the c*** out of West Ham" - LIVE from Leverkusen

Opposition View: "We're gonna beat the c*** out of West Ham" - LIVE from Leverkusen

West Ham United have yet another historic clash approaching as they take on ‘unbeaten in 41 games Bayer Leverkusen’ in the Europa League quarter-final first leg in Germany on Thursday.
Will Pugh is out there for the game after his underwhelming trip to Freiburg in the last round ended in a 1-0 defeat.
And he caught up with German journalist, podcaster and enormous Bayer Leverkusen fan Kevin Schueren ahead of the match on all things Xabi Alonso, Victor Boniface, the Bundesliga title, the threat of Ultra attacks on West Ham fans, team news and of course any hope David Moyes and the boys have of ending their incredible unbeaten run and reaching a third consecutive European semi-final.

It's time for peak Moyes-ball and we're so ready for it

It's time for peak Moyes-ball and we're so ready for it

It's nice to come out of a game of football without feeling hard done by, wronged and aggrieved by a scandalous VAR decision. This time, we were on the right end of it and it was Wolves fans crying scandal. However, this decision WAS correct and Max Kilman's goal WAS rightly ruled out for offside. No scandal this week. Nothing to see here, Wolves fans.
It was a huge win and keeps us well in the hunt for another year of European football by virtue of our league position. It was also the perfect result to take into what is without doubt our biggest game of the season so far. We travel to Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday to try and be the first team in 42 games to beat Xabi Alonso's side. If ever there was a need for peak Moyes-ball, which we all know has come under intense scrutiny this season, it's now.
Will is heading out to Leverkusen and will hopefully be getting an Oppo View before the big game. In the meantime, you've got James and Will reacting to the Wolves game this week and, at the very beginning, James being attacked by his wife and son with Nerf guns!
    As always, thanks for listening!

Opposition View: Wolves, with Dan Baylis from the Wolves 77 Club Podcast

Opposition View: Wolves, with Dan Baylis from the Wolves 77 Club Podcast

It's getting towards the business end of the season and after a good, hard-fought draw against rivals Spurs earlier this week, West Ham are still well in the mix for a fourth consecutive season of European qualification.
One team threatening to beat us to it, though, is Gary O'Neil's Wolves, who have had a relatively good campaign, if not slightly inconsistent. They're currently three points behind us with a game in hand and, with all the other teams around us having a game advantage over us, there is so much importance in ensuring we continue to pick up points between now and the end of the season.
Joining us this week is Dan Baylis from the Wolves 77 Club Podcast to give us his thoughts on his beloved Wolves ahead of Saturday.

I listen every week

Will and Jonesy are enjoyable personalities- reasonable views but never boring, good rapport with the right blend of humor in the mix. The show has a variety of segments and entertaining guests including the Opposition View (Olympiacos from Greece was a nice one) and interviews with supporters from different backgrounds. The show makes my experience following the Hammers more fun. - JD

We Want Steve… We Need Steve

Can’t say enough nice things about the podcast. Love the opposition views, love the new Claret and Hugh view with Will Pugh ™ , and love that the opinions on the show are always even-keeled … with one exception… I’d love if James’ mate Steve could come back on for a few shows to speak his mind. Maybe bring him in every month or so, get him all hot and bothered on a topic, and set him loose. Don’t much care what he’s on about—just want to hear him airing it out. If you can get Steve back on for a few episodes, I’ll go ahead and buy the show as many pints as it takes to get James Jones properly trousered (I.e. 3 pints). Much love, and keep up the good work.

Opposition Views are always on point

My favorite West Ham podcast by far. James and Will always bring on knowledgeable and objective opposition views weekly. I’ve been listening religiously from Baltimore USA for years. COYI
