Great minute by minute podcast

The minute by minute format works well here. Velvet Goldmine is a rich film with lots to unpack and the hosts do a fine job with it. Both are knowledgeable, articulate, and entertaining. Really worth a listen!

Entertaining and Informative!

A great podcast about a great movie! The hosts know their stuff about glam rock, pop culture, film. I was afraid that a minute-by-minute analysis of a movie would be dull and dry but Mike and Jenny are immensely entertaining and this feels like a conversation you would have with your (very smart) friends about a great movie. Glad it's daily becuase I usually can't wait for the next installment.

Fun and informative take on a cult classic.

Did the world need a minute-by-minute analysis of Velvet Goldmine, the 1998 pseudo-biopic of David Bowie by queer director Todd Haynes? Probably not. But we're better off for having it in the form of this podcast.

The charm of this project for me is the combination of the hosts' personalities and backgrounds: Jenny is a Brit with a deep knowledge of rock-and-roll, glam, fashion, Bowie, and Haynes' various inspirations (Oscar Wilde, etc.). Michael is an American with an encyclopedic understanding of history (especially the '70s, and it shows in various flashes of insight) and general 20th Century weirdness. The two play to those strengths, and the end result is a delightful, conversational project that weaves together queer history, David Bowie biography (and hagiography), film-making techniques, gossip, fashion, and fairies. Check it out.
