The World Fusion Show brings you the leading innovators in World Fusion music with your host, composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Derrik Jordan. Produced in Brattleboro, Vermont at BCTV and featuring interviews, video clips and live in the studio playing with some fantastic World Fusion composers and musicians.
The World Fusion Show is currently being shown on 99 community TV stations in 26 states. The podcast is being heard in over 50 countries. We debuted the show in July of 2017 and we release a new episode every 2 weeks.
The World Fusion Show just won a national award for Best Entertainment and Arts Series 2019 in public access TV.

They work with many World Music collaborators and have a very successful after school string program in Portland. Some of their many collaborators are featured on this episode including a piece written for them by Kinan Azmeh, a clarinetist and composer from Syria.

Mathieu Borgne lives in Paris, France and plays the steel pan. I discovered him on Facebook when I heard his version of John Coltrane’s Giant Steps and was blown away. That video is included in this episode. He works with a variety of World Fusion groups some of which are also included in this show. He does arrangements for steel pan orchestras and has traveled to Trinidad to play in their festivals and competitions.

Sylvain Leroux has been playing the Fula flute, a West African instrument, for many years. For a long time he was the only Fula flutist in North America. He has made many trips to Guinea where he is teaching the Fula flute to children there and helping them connect with their tradition. He created a chromatic version of the flute so he can get all the notes. In this episode he is doing a duet with a West African Fula flute player. The unique style of playing uses vocal sounds and shouting as part of the sound.

Frank London is an eclectic composer who works in an extremely wide range of styles but he is mostly famous for his group The Klezmatics, which has been together for decades. This world-touring group's mission is all about fun, ecstasy and irreverence and it shows in their music big time. He is a trumpet player and is very well known in NYC where he lives. This episode features some of his Klezmer music but also a choral work and an excerpt of a recent work called “Ghetto Songs."

He is a wonderful songwriter and composer and has a very deep spiritual and uplifting energy in his music. He plays charango, accordion, guitar, piano and sings. In this episode he performs three of his songs with the Israeli Symphony Orchestra.

I am so impressed by the World Fusion Show and the love and care that producer Derrick Jordan puts into his projects. I am fascinated to hear the way that the musicians he interviews evolved to harness their passions. The idea of using world fusion as the glue that connects each of the shows with each other to form a series makes a lot of sense. The premise of the series give us a more comprehensive understanding of how world fusion influences the cutting edge of numerous musical styles. Bravo!
