Todd Norian, E-RYT 500, seeks to awaken others to their inherent potential for healing and joy by integrating the body, mind, and heart through yoga and meditation. Believing that yoga is a gateway for self-discovery and spiritual growth, Todd founded Ashaya Yoga in 2012 to guide his students through an alignment-based, heart-opening practice that builds strength and flexibility while giving them access to the universe of power within. A student of yoga since 1980, Todd brings advanced biomechanical knowledge, Shaiva Tantra philosophical teachings, and an unapologetic sense of humor to his international workshops and trainings. As a classically trained Jazz musician, Todd created several music albums for yoga and relaxation, including Bija: Soothing Music and Mantras for Yoga and Meditation. Tantra Yoga: Journey to Unbreakable Wholeness explores Todd’s journey.
By steadfastly following his heart, Todd has lived an uncommon life: living like a monk for 13 years at the then-ashram Kripalu in Massachusetts; having an intense spiritual awakening that landed him for a brief stay at a psychiatric hospital; and overcoming the heartbreak of being spiritually betrayed by beloved teachers — not once, but twice.
Now, writing with gentle, compassionate authority, he is sharing the life-changing philosophy that taught him how to embrace all of it — the pain, disillusionment, and suffering — as the gift it was always meant to be.

#44 - Ahna Hoke - Evolutionary Journey Into Yoga

In this episode host Dave Sims, E-RYT500, owner of Cityoga School of Yoga and Health, dives in deep with Ahna Hoke, local Indianapolis teacher. We explore her yoga journey with roots at Kripalu, followed by Anusara teaching, then Vinyasa and finally landing with a hybrid teaching blending vinyasa, hearted center practice, and practical functionality.

Ahna Hoke E-RYT 500 began practicing yoga 20 years ago in central Pennsylvania. She has been teaching since 2001 and is a registered with Yoga Alliance at the E-RYT 500-hour professional level. Ahna has studied extensively at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Massachusetts, as well as in the style of Anusara Yoga. Over the years she has studied with many world-renowned teachers receiving over 2000 hours of training in different modalities of vinyasa and hatha yoga. The life affirming philosophy of Anusara Yoga, along with its elegant principles of alignment have influenced her personal practice to become more graceful and heart centered. In addition, she has over 135 hours of advanced pranayama (yogic breathing) and meditation training and feels strongly that the breath is the link that brings the mind, body, and spirit together. Ahna will lead you through a practice that is uplifting and strengthening with the guidance of pranayama, proper alignment and opening to the flow of life, encouraging the wisdom of your heart to lead you into a state of self-awareness. Ahna's teachings are down to earth, and include lots of playfulness and humor. She has a deep passion for anatomy and physiology, meditation and pranayama.
