Today we took a look at the musical, ‘Death Becomes Her.’ DBH is a brand new musical currently playing at Chicago’s Cadillac Palace. The musical stars Meghan Hilty (Madeline Ashton), Jennifer Simard (Helen Sharp), and Michelle Williams (Viola Van Horn). The musical follows the same
story as the original 1992 film in which Madeline, the self-proclaimed most beautiful actress, lives a glamorous life, while author Helen Sharp endures in her shadow. Their rivalry intensifies when Madeline steals Helen's fiancé, leading Helen to plot revenge. The arrival of the
mysterious Viola Van Horn and her magical potion rejuvenates them both, reigniting an eternal grudge with their youth and beauty restored.

Today we broke down one of our FAVORITE movies, ‘A Mighty Wind.’ A Mighty Wind is a 2003 comedy film that is produced as a mockumentary. The story follows three fictional folk bands as they reunite for their first television performance in decades. A Mighty Wind stars Bob Balaban, Christopher Guest, Eugene Levy, Jane Lynch, and many more. The soundtrack for the film also peaked at no. 20 on the Billboard charts upon its release.

Today we took a look at the 2023 French film ‘Anatomy of a Fall.’ Anatomy of a Fall is a legal drama that follows Sandra Voyter (played by Sandra Huller) after her husband is found dead from a fall that he took. Their vision-impaired son Daniel (Milo Machado-Graner) has to deal with his own moral dilemmas as the only witness to the potential suicide or murder.

Today, we broke down the 2023 musical-film ‘Wonka’. Wonka stars Timothee Chalamet as Willie Wonka in a movie that depicts the start of Wonka’s career as a world renowned chocolatier. The film is based off the original novel ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ by Roald Dahl. ‘Wonka’ is the third filmed based off of the book and Chalamet joins Gene Wilder (1971) and Johnny Depp (2005) as the actors chosen to play the beloved character. The film also stars Calah Lane, Keegan-Michael Key, Hugh Grant, and many more in this ensemble cast.

S1 E28 - 2 Grooms 1 Plot | DUNE (parts 1 & 2)
Welcome to episode 28 of 2 Grooms 1 Plot! A podcast where two life-long storytellers talk about stories!
Today, we broke down the most recent Sci-Fi blockbuster, Dune part 1 and part 2. Dune is based on the original novel written by Frank Herbert. The movies are both directed by Denis Villeneuve and star Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, Dave Bautista, and many MANY other stars. The story follows Paul Atreides (Chalamet) on the planet Arrakis. Arrakis is home to ‘spice’ - the universe’s most powerful product that makes interstellar travel possible. After being abandoned on Arrakis with his mother, the 2 join the Fremans (Bardem, Zendaya) to help stop the Harkonnen’s from coming to their planet and taking the spice, as well as discovering Paul’s calling as the prophet as a Bene Gesserit. There is SO MUCH that takes place across these 2 films that this description does it no justice. As always, we recommend checking out both these films before watching to truly understand the points that we make as they directly relate to the story (spoiler alert as always!)

This podcast is too sexy
Pavi and Colin are charismatic hosts that clearly have a passion for the films they’re discussing. The hosts are married which explains the conversational chemistry and dialectical flow that feels both natural and personal. They strike a balance between informative analysis and sheer entertainment, because they aren’t afraid to be critical in ways that make me think, “I felt the same way when I watched it the first time.” My mind is prone to wander, but they consistently maintain an engaging discussion that keeps me tuned in. Listening to this podcast feels like having a captivating conversation with friends who possess unique perspectives and narratives that provide an insight I might otherwise have missed. I also appreciate the diversity in the selection of film and media covered, which makes it easier for the casual listener. The podcast episodes vary from the niche films, like Fire Island, to the cult classics, like Legally Blonde. I’ve seen Legally Blonde a dozen times, but Pavi and Colin provide a news lens from which to evaluate the film. As someone who enjoys discussing films I have an appreciation for new takes and perspectives. 10/10, would bang.
