Then Is Now Episode 60 - Jerry Mathers

Then Is Now Episode 60 - Jerry Mathers

One of the best representatives of the American family in the 1950s was the Cleaver household, as portrayed on the iconic and classic television series, Leave It to Beaver. The Cleavers exemplified the idealized suburban family of the mid-20th century. The show, which ran from 1957 to 1963, was about an inquisitive and often naïve boy, Theodore "Beaver" Cleaver, and his adventures at home, school, and around his suburban neighborhood. The show also starred Barbara Billingsley and Hugh Beaumont as Beaver's parents, June and Ward Cleaver, and Tony Dow as Beaver's brother Wally. The series was produced by Joe Connelly and Bob Mosher, who you may remember as the producers of The Munsters as well.
Joining me today is the star of Leave it to Beaver, Jerry Mathers! Jerry had some great stories to share about working on the show including acting, directing for television, and a personal triumph among other things! Check it out!

Then Is Now Podcast Episode 59 - Jim Harberson - A Disgusting Supermarket of Death

Horror has been with us since the dawn of mankind in various forms over the years, and while horror movies have been with us since the early 1900s, horror books have been around far longer. Still going strong today is the horror novel market and new authors and books are appearing almost daily in all of the online and brick and mortar bookstores.
Joining me on the show today is author James Harberson, whose book, A Disgusting Supermarket of Death, collects hard-boiled shorts about satanic Christmas movies, performance art euthanasia, child sacrifice skincare, and other demented goodness. Folks, I will warn you that as we get into the topics of the short stories in this book, it may not be for the squeamish, faint of heart, or young people, so please be warned...and enjoy!!

Then Is Now Episode 58 - Johnny Whitaker

Former child star, the iconic and legendary Johnny Whitaker joins us today! One of my childhood idols, Johnny is most well known for the classic TV shows, Family Affair and Sigmund and the Sea Monsters. Johnny has had a fascinating journey in life, and he shares it all with us including details on the shows he worked on, a heartbreaking loss, a journey to “the dark side” (as he puts it), and his incredible work helping those in need, among other things!
Join us for this amazing interview, and reminisce with us as we go back in time to talk about the life of someone that a whole generation grew up with on TV!
It was a true honor to finally get the chance to talk with one of my favorite actors and idols growing up! I think many young boys in the 1970s wished they had Johnny's singing and acting talent...I know I did! Johnny is an amazing person and does wonderful things to help people out, so please check out his web page and social media!

Then Is Now Episode 56 - Crossover with Pier 54 - A General Hospital Fan Podcast

Then Is Now Episode 56 - Crossover with Pier 54 - A General Hospital Fan Podcast

General Hospital is an amazing daytime drama, or soap opera, that has been on the air since April 1st, 1963. The originality, creativity, and sheer entertainment of this show has helped it to survive over the decades, constantly re-inventing itself to stay relevant. GH pioneered action and adventure on daytime television in the early 1980s, and continues to thrill today!
On this episode, we have a special crossover with Pier 54 – A General Hospital Fan Podcast! Hosts Amanda and Shannon join me and we have a fun time discussing the show and all its complexities. We tackle how some of us have dealt with being made fun of for watching a soap, and we talk about just what makes GH so much fun to watch! Plus, I give a brief history of the show at the beginning.
If you always scoffed at soap operas or have been curious but never watched General Hospital, give this episode a listen! It'll open your eyes to a whole new world of entertainment that is second to none! If you're a fan of GH, then come on over and take a listen, and let us know if you agree what we discussed!

Granite Gary ,

Love it!

My kids and I listen to this show! I love hearing about the stuff I grew up with and sharing it with them. It's really opened their eyes, as the show says, "to all the cool stuff they missed out on"! Keep up the great work!

New listener from North Jersey

I really look forward to hearing about movies and television shows that I greatly enjoy while learning about new gems that I’ve never heard of before. The show is well planned and executed.
