There’s More Than One Coming Out Story with Gay Rights Activist Harrison Guy Commitment Phobe

    • Self-Improvement

If you think about it, we all have many coming out stories. We all have moments in our lives where we have to share our deepest truths and show who we really are to the people we love. Ever thought about yours?
My guest Harrison Guy is a gay rights activist and professional dancer that shares with us his experience with the coming out stories we are used to thinking of: telling his friends and families that he is gay. However, there wasn’t just ONE coming out story, every family member and social setting had its own coming out story, and each one impacted his life in a different way.

It was my pleasure to have Harry on my podcast today to hear his story what led him to the many incredible ways he creates environments where he can help others feel the freedom to express themselves the way he felt growing up in an open-minded home and community.

Some of the topics we touch upon are:
-What it was like for him to come out to his family and community.
-How the men in his life shaped his image of a man.
-How he created the nonprofit Urban Souls Dance Company and his vision to create a dance company focused on African-American culture.
-Where he learned about courage and how he inspires others to be courageous.
-Harry’s thoughts on what makes a strong partnership and “relationship goals.”

Harrison Guy is the founder and creative director of the nonprofit Urban Souls Dance Company, a modern company that specializes in exploring African-American culture, heritage and expression. He has also been on the Mayor of Houston’s LGBTQ Advisory board,
