Easter 3: Introduction: Fan the Flame (feat. Pr. Mielke)

Easter 3: Introduction: Fan the Flame (feat. Pr. Mielke)

As we kick off our Fan the Flame journey, we want to see that this is about the fire of faith in each of our hearts. Our readings illustrate the “triangle of fire.” In order to have a fire you need heat, fuel and oxygen. If any are missing, no fire. But Jesus gives all of these things to us!

Easter 2: He Meets Our Doubt (feat. Pr. Vieth)

Easter 2: He Meets Our Doubt (feat. Pr. Vieth)

It is the second Sunday of Easter, the end of the great octave. The vestiges of our Easter joy can still be felt. Yet, a faint shadow has snuck into our celebrations in the form of Thomas’ doubt and our own. Jesus is risen, and yet we can’t help but still be gripped by the reality of the darkness, sin, and brokenness that still plague us. When doubts arise, we revert to what we know and try and go at life on our own, trying to combat the darkness with darkness. Jesus, however, always draws near when we try and run away, He stoops down into our darkness and doubt to remind us of his presence, forgiveness, and light. Jesus always turns our doubt back to himself. He constantly gives himself to us in tangible ways to remind us of his presence, dispelling our doubt, disbelief, and fear.

Easter Vigil: Roll Away the Stone (feat. Pr. Mielke)

Easter Vigil: Roll Away the Stone (feat. Pr. Mielke)

"Who will roll away the stone for us?" the women ask. This is a profound spiritual question. Had Jesus not rolled it away, we would be stuck in our graves forever. But even now, that stone traps us in this life, a life filled with the fear of death and misery. The stone rolled away is a portal to a new life with Jesus.

Worship at Trinity, even amidst COVID-19

Faithful Pastors; caring congregation; and a loving family. Here at Trinity, one hears of the true and eternal Gospel: the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Here one is baptized a Christian; here one receives the true and most holy body, blood, soul and divinity of our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. And finally, here one is taught the central dogma of Christianity itself: the most holy, innocent and bitter sufferings and death of the Only Begotten and Eternal Son of God, by whose sacrificial death has made atonement for the sins of the whole world, that all who repent and believe this Gospel may look forward to the resurrection of the dead upon the return of Christ, and may live there with Him forever in His Kingdom on the new earth, and Whose kingdom shall have no end. Yes, we are right now at this time dealing with COVID-19; and we are afraid of catching it. But hear me out: Don’t stop attending worship at Trinity during this pandemic. You need not only to hear the word, but you also desperately need to eat and drink the true body and blood of our LORD for the forgiveness of your sins. And with those who are parenting infants, bring your little children, and do not hinder them, (Matthew 19:13-15) to the baptismal font at Trinity to be made a child of God. And finally, it is our duty to worship the LORD our God, the most blessed and Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, who is forever one God.

Thankful!

I’m so glad I do not have to miss any sermons while I am on vacation! They come right to my podcast app every week. Thanks Emily Belina for showing me how to do that. Thank you Pastors Mielke and Davis for this inspired sermon series. It is such a blessing to be reminded of God’s design for us no matter how old we are or whatever our stage of family life.
