    Can licensed games be good? {Ep. 32}

    Games based off of popular books, movies, or tv shows have always been a part of gaming culture. Historically these games relied on the intellectual property to sell copies and focused little on making the game itself fun to play. This week Marcus, Devin, and Evan talk about how licensed games are treated today.

You Won't Regret This

There are lots of gaining podcasts out there, trust me I know. It's hard to find one and to stick with it because most of them just lose steam after a while. That's not the case here. I've been listening since the beginning, and every new podcast always feels refreshing. I never feel like I am just listening to a conversation, more like I am part of the conversation. Try out Trust Sircle, you won't regret it.

Good Show But Needs To Rack Focus

At it’s best Trust Sircle is a solid gaming podcast with a lot of heart. The combination of hosts who feel like actual friends but also have actual chemistry, relevance to hot button topics in gaming, and Valerie’s non-gaming perspective as a breath of fresh air, really make the show warm and fuzzy to listen to.

I think the show’s biggest weaknesses presently are that it can lack focus and get a little too personal at times.

While it’s definitely fun to hear about other topics such as movies and books, the non-game centric episodes can feel very very sluggish, meandering from one topic to the next without a lot of purpose behind it. I think trimming these less game focused discussions down, or perhaps making more of a structure for them could do a lot of good.

Also, while the show’s open book nature is a strength at times, it can get a little too personal at times. My suggestion would be to not to go as in-depth on your worldview or personal histories, but rather let those parts of yourselves come out organically in the discussion on games.

A good comparison would be Marcus’ story about playing Pokemon in the hospital which was an interesting tidbit into his life framed through gaming and relevant to the topic at hand vs. Marcus and his best bud’s two hour treatise on the troubles of the world. Try to have more of the former, and less of the latter, and you’ll be rocking.

Overall, good show. Keep polishing it up.

It's not you, it's me...

I'm personally not a gamer, so a lot of the content Trust Sircle produces just doesn't peak my interest. I know they have a great vision to bridge the gap between gamers and non-gamers, and I listened as a non-gamer to see how they do this. Though not everything discussed is about gaming, I still felt the podcast was a little rambly and ran long. It would be interesting to hear it if it was edited to be more fluid. I can tell the hosts get along great, and they have vibrant personalities- however, this podcast simply isn't for me.
