‘Unlocking Our Sound Heritage’ by the charity Manx National Heritage is an eavesdrop on a century of voices from the Isle of Man produced in conjunction with Manx Radio. Digitally preserved for the first time and available in-full online at www.imuseum.im, these voices from the nation’s past-and-present recall vivid memories of the Island, sometimes in the Manx language, as told by the people who were there. Funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and led by the British Library, Manx National Heritage is grateful to its audio preservation partner at National Museums Northern Ireland and our Listening Volunteers for enabling this remarkable sound archive to be enjoyed for free for the first time online.

This week, something a little different, as Nicola Tooms takes us on a journey through the Manx Language archive. You don't have to be a Manx speaker to enjoy the episode though, as there are recordings about Manx in English, including wonderful stories of how the Gaelg speakers were recorded in the first place.
