Valley Tales is a curation of real-life stories, ranging from mild to wild, brought to you by someone you’ve never heard of!

Micah Garcia, a lifelong artist and musician, has been performing onstage since the age of four. His professional career has been rooted in multiple creative outlets, including, playing in punk rock bands, working all angles of the restaurant industry, and painting murals and other commissioned art pieces. These roads would inevitably lead him on a colorful journey with close encounters of the psychedelic kind.

Join him, and other interesting characters he's met along the way, as he recounts his experiences growing up in Southern California (not quite a Gen X'er, but not really a Millennial), with his own brand of eccentric, and often satirical, suburban lore about the ups, the downs, and the one night stands. Stay casual!

    005 - The Nighttime is the Write Time :: 6/4/18

    Good morrow, brethren. We are long overdue for another installment of campfire nostalgia, and so, let's gather! We face very perplexing and uncharted waters in this modern age, and Sindependent Media would like to extend positivity and hope that you are all safe and staying vigilant! It's ok to be dealing with, and mitigating, big ol' balls of stress, we are all human; but here, we present to you a bit of distraction during this global pandemic, in the form of a Valley Tales episode.
    Episode 005 was originally recorded in early June of 2018, and Micah covered the topic of "colorful break-ups." We begin in the Summer of 1994, at age 14, when Micah met his first love, his ruca, his always & forever... But by that Fall, his ruca suddenly stopped accepting his mixtapes, and told him that it was over. Crushed, but crafty, Micah came up with his own creative way of handling the curveballs of youthful emotions.
    In the second half of the episode, the focus shifts to the early months of 2007 - age 27. Another break-up, another crafty (or foolhardy?) method of self therapy. This time amidst the backdrop of pre-smartphone Los Angeles (oh, it was a glorious time, sorry if you missed it!). A hotheaded version of a late 20s Micah gets presented with a life altering scenario near a crosswalk in downtown LA. Trucha, of the vida loca, my carnales. Orale. And stay casual.

    003 - Get Outta My Bus & Into My Dreams :: 5/21/18

    We're back, and very much still in business! Micah has had to take some time to dabble in real life duties the last couple few months, but, alas, the warmth of the summer campfire is glowing upon us again.
    The tales this week involve the theme of the "outer limits," and what can happen when things are pushed passed what is accepted as normal.
    First up, we dip back to the opening week of 2006, as Micah began his New Year with a puzzle to solve with his former roommates, in Echo Park, CA. In a time when medical cannabis and social media were still relatively new, and smart phones were not yet on the market, ingenuity and network connections happened with a different sense of urgency.
    You'd be wise to cuddle up and get comfortable for the second half of our episode, it's particularly special. Micah reveals one of his most legendary stories that dates back to the end of his senior year of high school, in 1998. The boundaries of the universe are tickled and kissed, as youthful curiosity is explored in the most unforgettable way possible, at the happiest spot in Southern California! Grab some refreshments and let's get casual!!

Episode 3!!!

Oh meeyan, so entertaining and well crafted. I started the day in a bad mood, began listening on my way to work and was laughing and smiling the remainder of the day. So well done. You explained the ups and downs of a trip so accurately and beautifully. The sad music while walking along Main St, post space mountain and the joyful reunion of you and your buddy after was my favorite.

Unique and intriguing

I’m a sucker for the storytelling format and am always looking for new voices. Only two episodes in, and I really hope there’s more on the way because this guy had me cracking up with his ADD style! Since he is not a known personality (from what I gather) it makes the energy more sincere and relatable, I guess you can say. Typically, I would come into a new show from someone I’ve never heard of with low expectations, but Micah kept it interesting and honest and he’s got a cool sounding radio voice sort of, haha! Keep it up and I’m looking forward to more tales!
