"Valuable Supplements: Part II" with Dr. Stuart Phillips, PhD‪.‬ The Discover Strength Podcast

    • Fitness

In this week's episode of the Discover Strength Podcast, I had the pleasure of being joined once again by Dr. Stuart Phillips.

Dr. Phillips is a senior lecturer at McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. He is widely regarded as one of the preeminent researchers in the world on protein. In this week's episode we focus specifically on supplements. What works, what doesn't and what does the research say is worth spending your money on.

The supplement industry is fraught with misinformation, disinformation and unfortunately outright lies. There are however, a few supplements backed by research and proven time and time again to be effective in muscle building. That list however, is very short, and because the industry is widely unregulated, it's important to know what is worth using and what can potentially hinder you, harm you, or will simply be a waste of time and money.

In this episode Dr. Phillips in I discuss that short list of supplements we know work for sure. We also talk about some other supplements that may or may not have potential, and the rest unfortunately are for the most part, just fancy marketing. If you're interested in hearing our other episodes with Dr. Phillips, check out Season 2, Episode 9 (Here) and see links below for Dr. Phillips on previous seasons.
