The rabbit hunt continues on Vintage Cinema Rewind. On this week’s Deep Dive into Jean Renior’s 1939 masterpiece, The Rules of the Game, a baffling web of clandestine romantic liaisons closes in around Jason and Michael. While everyone else is distracted by the masquerade, they take some time to discuss the labyrinthine plot, complex characters, and innovative filmmaking techniques. Can they help Christine reunite with her erstwhile lover(s)? Or will they end up chased around by a jealous gamekeeper?

"The awful thing about life is this: everyone has their reasons." On Vintage Cinema Rewind's first ever Blakeless episode, Jason and Michael come together to discuss Jean Renoir's 1939 French masterpiece, The Rules of the Game. In pre-World War II Paris, adultery is a pleasant romp so long as you abide by a simple rule: don't get caught. But then, one French aviator disrupts the whole system by professing his love for a married woman across the airwaves. As the aristocracy embarks on an affair-laden rabbit hunt in the countryside, can Jason and Michael smooth the whole mess over? Or will they end up caught in the crosshairs? 

It's all fun and games until Jack Nicholson gets his nostrils cut open. The investigation continues at Vintage Cinema Rewind! Blake and Jason continue with their Deep Dive on Roman Polanski's Chinatown, examining the performances, historical context, and themes. But with the dead ends and dead bodies piling up around them, can they crack this case in time? Or will they end up getting fed to the goldfish?

Forget it, Jake. It's... a middling podcast starring three thirtysomethings and less listeners than the legs on a spider. That's right, Vintage Cinema Rewind is back with Roman Polanski's (eesh) Chinatown! Blake and Jason are on the case! Can they uncover the case of the missing water? Or is this investigation all wet?

The fields are (still?) covered with blood! Blake, Michael, and the other rabbits have made their way to the relative safety of Watership Down, but this is a paradise easily lost. In order to ensure their new warren survives, they'll need mates--lots of mates! So while they get ready to slip into General Woundwort's clutches, they take the time to discuss the characters, setting, and luxurious wordbuilding. Such is Vintage Cinema Rewind's monument, and perhaps it would not have displeased them.

And so begins the weirdest, darkest children's movie Vintage Cinema Rewind has ever encountered. This week, Blake and Michael introduce 1978's Watership Down -- an animated movie about talking rabbits, bloody fields, caste systems, and totalitarianism. Can they make it to the safety of their burrow? Or will they end up caught in a snare?
