yes yes and more yes!

To say I’m obsessed is an understatement! Me and my best girlfriends all listen to this show and love to divulge in all of the juicy topics. I don’t know where my life would be without this blessed!

Why do women keep calling/writing in

I’ve been listening to this podcast for years now and I used to love it, especially when Cece and Meg would give their advice to girls calling in with questions. But lately, all Cece does is tear apart literally every person who calls in with a question. Meg tries to be charitable but Cece seems to think she’s the end all be all and arbiter of truth?—she can never be wrong and she consistently humiliates the poor women who text or call in with questions. I will say, at least she seems to have found a man who’s on her level, because Patrick is exactly the same—he definitely came off as arrogant on the episode he and Avery both joined, claiming that he just “tells it like it is.” It’s so cringey listening to Meg try to soften the blow that is Cece’s vicious take downs of anything she disagrees with. She actually admits on the most recent episode (when they call your baby their baby) that she’s tearing apart the mother who wrote in—and then laughs and continues tearing into her! So so disheartening. And if it were me, I would be so embarrassed. If I ever had a question, I wouldn’t go to them unless I wanted to be publicly shamed lol

Gave it so many chances

Really wanted to like this podcast. On a recent episode, Cece detailed all of the things she will be doing as a new mother. Anyone who’s been a parent knows that you’ll adjust a lot of things. You may even do things you said you’d NEVER do (like respond to your baby when they cry at night or share a sleeping surface with them). She seems very certain that she knows exactly what to do because “we believe it’s best this way.”

I’d approach motherhood with less rigidity, but rigidity seems to be one of the hallmarks of this podcast. For what it’s worth, I’m a young-ish Catholic mom who leans more traditional and favors more natural/holistic living and loves the idea of homebirth and more… but the tone of WITDH is superficial, judgy, cliquey and rigid (as other reviewers have commented). They are probably well-intentioned but could stand to take a break from podcasting for awhile, focus on their own spheres of influence and grow in humility.
