On today’s episode, I’m chatting to fashion designer and founder of AOIFE IRELAND. Noticing her love for fashion from a young age, this week’s guest wasted no time in pursuing her dream and enrolled in a university course to study fashion design the minute she left secondary school. Finding herself interning in New York for the one and only, Marc Jacobs, it was evident the up and coming designer had a bright future ahead and continued to take things further by moving to Paris following graduation, to fully immerse herself in the industry. Returning home to Ireland from the French capital, she began gifting pieces of her collection to Instagram influencers and from there, things started to take off. Focusing on using only sustainable Irish materials, her designs landed her on the runway of Paris Fashion Week last year, showcasing her Autumn Winter collection. Sharing insights into the new role of social media in the growth of the fashion industry, what it’s really like working as a designer in Ireland and how she burst onto the scene, here’s what it’s like to be Aoife McNamara.
