In this episode, Jackie talks about an elective surgery for a tummy tuck, a new corporate job, breaking up with the shady boyfriend, trauma bonding, marriage, and where her life is now.

Now for an uplifting episode. Jackie starts Girls with Guts with a group of friends who also are IBD patients. She delves into the first retreat, highs and lows, complications, finding her people, immense pride, burnout, and the final surgery.

New surgeon, the last surgery in the J pouch series, recovering, graduating from Grad school, starting Girls With Guts, and finding out that her boyfriend has been less than faithful. Does this finally fracture the relationship and end things? Listen to find out.

TW Suicide

This episode is deeply vulnerable. Jackie was at a low point and actively planning her suicide. There's outreach, friends intervening, getting help, another J pouch surgery, and some body and mind healing. Life starts moving forward, and good things start happening, but all get derailed by more complications.

In this episode, life is on an upswing after leaving Camp Oasis. She has just been fired and cannot get another job because she has many surgeries ahead of her. She throws herself into Grad School to occupy her mind. MS relapse, an unsupportive boyfriend and professors, and a J-pouch surgery that does not go as planned. Then a bottoming out and a contemplation of suicide.

In this episode, Jackie and her parents are preparing for a series of three UC surgeries at the Cleveland Clinic. She shares a ridiculous story of having to prep for colon surgery while sharing a hotel bathroom with her parents and gives details of her exact procedure.



Jackie shares how the surgery did not go as planned, the difficulty with managing pain, feeling the loss of dignity, and how challenging the aftercare was in general. She struggles with her identity and her new life with an ostomy. Finally, she finds Camp Oasis (a camp for children with IBD), where, as a camp counselor, her life is changed forever for the better.
