#whenibecamefree is a project dedicated to survivors of abuse (child, sexual and domestic violence). The goal of When I Became Free is to give those who are ready to share their experiences in a safe manner, a vehicle to do so.
We will also explore news, information and resources relevant to survivors, the people who love and care for them, and those who want to become aware.

For Posterity - the last of my childhood truths revealed
In this episode I share with all of you something I kept hidden for too long. You've heard my story, my truths of being a survivor of child sexual assault, of domestic violence and of sexual assault as an adult - you even heard that I am a survivor of suicide attempts, but this last truth was so surreal to me, something I could never understand why it happened, the way it happened, that I carried the shame longer and closer to me than in any of the other incidents. ...
Thank you to my talented son, Kyle Roberts, for allowing me to use the song he wrote in my honor, For Posterity. It is a song that was recently released on his new band's, Super Brick, debut cd.
If you're interested in helping to keep the When I Became Free going and growing, please consider a donation as I am have a lot of plans for this year - be sure to listen to the end for announcements!

Witnessing domestic violence and the aftermath from a child's perspective
In this episode I interview my two sons, Justin and Kyle Roberts who were just 13 and 8 years old when the final attack of domestic violence in our family occurred. They are frank, open and honest on what that day was like and then also what life in the aftermath was like for them, the innocent children paying the price and trying to make sense out of life.
