    Comment line caller Mike Moriarty from Churchill is unhappy with seating arrangements for Kerry’s Munster final against Clare which will be held in Cusack Park, Ennis – the first time the venue has hosted a Munster Senior Football Final in 105 years.

    The Kerry man who died in a crash in North Cork is being remembered for being kind and helpful and as someone who will be greatly missed. Ger Fleming from Brosna was killed following a collision involving his motorbike and a truck near Ballydesmond, on Wednesday, April 24th. Mr Fleming, who was originally from Scartaglen, was a married father of two little girls. The parish priest of Brosna, Fr Martin Spillane, spoke to Treasa Murphy.

    An inquest jury returned a verdict of death by medical misadventure for 16-year-old Aoife Johnston who died in December 2022 at University Hospital Limerick after she was left 12 hours before seeing a doctor. Witnesses described the facility as a ‘warzone’ on the day she presented at the emergency department. Jerry spoke to Fine Gael councillor for the Newcastle West Municipal District, John Sheahan, who’s a member of the Regional Health Forum West. He also spoke to Fianna Fáil councillor Norma Moriarty for the Kenmare Municipal District who’s a member of the Regional Health Forum South.

    Jerry broadcast from MTU’s North Campus in Tralee for Connect with MTU, a networking event for companies, community groups, and the public. He spoke to Anne Looney who’s MTU Kerry’s external services manager, Gerard Corkery who’s head of the STEM department, and John Moriarty of Rural Food SkillNet. He also spoke to Tim Yeomans who’s Shannon ABC manager, to Tim Fitzmaurice, ImaR manager, Dave Barry who’s a researcher in the circular bioeconomy, and to Kieran O’Donoghue who’s educational outreach manager with AgriTech Ireland. Michael Hall who is head of department at MTU Kerry’s health and leisure and Hazel Byrne who’s the manager of Kerry Sports Academy also spoke to Jerry.

    The Platform Series: Inspired – April 25th, 2024

    The Platform Series on Radio Kerry is funded by Coimisiún na Meán with the television licence fee and it aims to help Kerry organisations raise awareness of their work.
    Inspired is a not-for-profit organisation which provides a day service for adults with mild to low moderate intellectual disabilities who have completed post-primary or secondary school.
    The organisation was founded in 2014 by a group of parents who believed that people with intellectual disabilities should be an integral part of society, having equal rights to participate in education and employment.
    On the Kerry Today show, service users Paddy Clancy, Lydia Murphy and Ciarán Sears gave an insight into their lives, their work, their interests and the impact being part of Inspired has had on them.
    Presenter Jerry O’Sullivan also interviewed Stephanie Dinham who is programme and career co-ordinator with Inspired.
