“The Blessing and Battle of Brokenness”
[1 Kings 18:39-19:5a]

The Blessing of Brokenness (18:39-46):
v Blessing # 1: I Change: (v39-40, 1 Peter 4:1-2)
o   From being self-centered to God-Centered (v39)
o   I can start getting rid of the Junk! (v40, James 4:7-8)
v Blessing # 2: I Connect: (v.41-46)
o   With God’s Promises (v41-42)
o   With God’s Redemptive Power! (v43-46, 2 Chron.7:14)
The Battle of Brokenness (19:1-5):
v Disillusionment: (v1-2)
o   God knows my pain (John 1:10-13)
o   The enemy isn’t going to “give up” easy (Eph.6:10-14)
o   I can’t take it personally (John 15:18-22)
v Fear: (v3a)
v Isolation: (v3b-5a)
o   Disconnecting (v3b-4a) “he left his servant…”
o   Dirty (4b) “came to a broom tree, sat under it”
o   Despair (v4c) “prayed that he might die”
o   Discrimination (v4d) “I have had enough Lord”
o   Disappointment (v4e) “I am no better than…”

What God am I Following? (v.20-24a):
We have the horrible tendency to make God in our image: (Gen.1:27, Deut.4:28-31, 2 Peter 3:1-9)

God will Never Give-up on Me! (v.24b):
I Need God! (Psalm 147:10-11)
God removes Every barrier: (Rom.8:31-39,Phil.2:5-11)
Do I need another Miracle or to Surrender? (Luke16:19-31, James 2:19, Matt.12:38-41)
I’ve got to have Faith: (John 6:29)
We will find out who God is when we stop “playing church” and really need Him: (v.25-29, Jer.29:13):
Playing Church is…

It takes more Faith to believe God “Isn’t” than to believe He “Is” (v.30-38):
There is no way to fake this: (Isaiah 43:10-13)
Trading God for anything is never a good trade: (v.30-33, Romans 1:20-28)
God doesn’t accept me because I’m perfect, He accepts me because I am His: (v.31)
God’s Miracles are to connected to my salvation:

TRUE Belief Requires Action (v.39-46):

“Preparing the Soil for God’s Outpouring”
[1 Kings 18:16-21]
God is preparing me to prevail not to just look pretty (v.16, James 1:2-4, Ephesians 4:11-16):
God is working “in me” so that He can work “through me”: (Isaiah 40:29-30)
The enemy won’t go away on his own!
(v.16, Ephesians 6:10-18, Deut.2:1-3, 24-33)
God doesn’t have to make me stronger but surer in Him: (2 Corinthians 4:5-10)
God isn’t afraid to “Shake things Up!” (v.17-19):
I have to be a rebel to follow Jesus: (Matt.7:13-14)
Trouble reveals what is and is not of God: (v.18-19)
Love doesn’t, “Look the other way.” (Prov.27:5-6)
I cannot follow The Lord on accident: (v.20-21):
Silence is going to keep me in a cycle of death: (James 4:4-10, 2 Cor. 7:8-11)
Commit to a Way of Life: (v.21, Revelation 3:14-22)
