The Toronto Blue Jays lose to the Milwaukee Brewers 5-4. Brayden is back on the podcast, as he is finally back from his 9th vacation of the year. The Blue Jays pulled their best trick out of their sleeve, the fake 9th-inning comeback. Davis Schneider had a home run in the first innings, and then the Blue Jays had one hit over the next 7 innings. They looked really good in the 9th, moving the game-tying run all the way to third base, but they were unable to cash it in. Chris Bassitt had some trouble with command today, having 4 walks over his five innings, but he did not give up a run, which is the most important statistic for the Toronto Blue Jays. Zach Pop and Tim Mayza did not have good days on the mound, giving up FIVE runs for their combined one inning of work. Unfortunately, this means that the Toronto Blue Jays are now two games under .500, and will now have to sweep the Cleveland Guardians to get over .500. The Toronto Blue Jays win the second game of the series against the Milwaukee Brewers 3-0. As yesterday was one of the most typical Blue Jays losses, this was a typical Blue Jays win, with stellar starting pitching and a mediocre offense that produces just enough to get by with a win. Yusei Kikuchi struggled with command at times in this start, working into some jams but working out of them just as fast. A huge positive from this game was the bullpen, pitching four scoreless innings to keep the Milwaukee Brewers off the board. This bullpen performance was led by Nate Pearson who struck out the side while allowing a hit, and Yimi Garcia who came in and was very effective in his four-out save. Spencer Horwitz continues to impress from the leadoff spot, generating another two hits and an RBI for an offense that needs runs desperately. The Toronto Blue Jays dropped the first game of the series to the Milwaukee Brewers 3-1. It feels like the Blue Jays have already played this game at least 30 times this season. Jose Berrios has a solid day, going five and two-thirds innings, and giving up three earned runs but got absolutely no help from this offense.
