Episode 29 | Fitness Instructor & Child Interventionist Alaina Battaglini | Bootcamp Babes - Becoming Your Best Mom Self

Trigger Warning: This weeks "Yucky Mommy" episode discusses eating disorders.

We are thrilled to welcome a very special guest to the "Yucky Mommy" podcast today. She's not just the reason we connected, but also a remarkable and authentic friend who selflessly puts others first and continuously strives to be her best self every single day. You can usually find her in her workout attire as a dedicated fitness trainer. She has been running her own successful boot camp called "Bootcamp Babes" for the past 9 years, impacting our community of mothers & parents in Tampa and beyond. In addition to her fitness endeavors, she's a devoted mother to two beautiful girls. She is also a graduate of FSU, which led her to becoming a committed child interventionist. Her passion for service extends to her active involvement in church activities, including an upcoming mission trip to the Dominican Republic this June. This year, she also initiated "Powered by Grace,"a program empowering young girls in our community not just physically but also nurturing their faith and mental wellness. Please welcome to the podcast, Alaina Battaglini!

You can expect the "Yucky Mommy" podcast to discuss how Alaina discovered that  her and her girls suffer from celiac's disease. We divulge into how they manage with the diagnosis as a family, especially during those early years of their girls' lives. We discuss her services to children beyond the workout space and why or how your child could be seen by a child interventionist like herself. We talk about Alaina's struggle with an ED growing up and how her childhood impacted her and what signs and symptoms to look for in our young kids as they get older. Through Alaina's recovery she's been able to help other women through the work she does now too.

This episode contains a lot of valuable information and we can't wait to hear what you think! Please leave us a comment or review and be sure to watch the full video version on YouTube.

Episode 27; Dr. Kristin Edwards Discusses Signs and Ways to Cope with Anxiety in Children

This week the "Yucky Mommy" podcast has their first ever guest on! She is a licensed child psychologist who specializes in early childhood through young adulthood and offers anxiety treatment for children and families, while also offering psych evals and neuropsychological testing. This guest is also a dear friend of Jessica's and owns her own practice in Tampa Bay called Tampa Pediatric Psychology. Her business also consults with patients virtually throughout the area and even takes patients from out of state.

Dr. Kristin Edwards brings a boat load of knowledge to this weeks podcast episode and we are so thankful to have her on. She discusses anxiety in children and the signs and symptoms to look out for. She also gives parents advice and knowledge on how to deal with anxiety and mental health struggles in children. Dr. Kristin Edwards  talks about where anxiety can come from in children and when to know if it's more of a disorder rather than just a moment.

Can anxiety come from genetics? How much of anxiety comes from devices? Are having arguments in front of our kids and having these "big emotions" healthy for our children to see from us as parents? How much is too much when it comes to being an overbearing parent? Listen to find out the answer to those and more.

We also give Dr. Kristin Edwards scenarios and "Yucky Mommy" moments that she gives her opinion and advice on.

Holly also discusses her frustration with men in power and their inability to see the labor of motherhood. An unfortunate Fischer-Price accident has recently occurred (again). Jess and Holly discuss the accident and reflect on their own experiences with the Rock 'n Play when their babies were small and other tough situations they've been in with their kids when you look away for even just a split second. They also give you their Yucky Mommy moments of the week .
