Once upon a time, there was a child. They lay sleeping in their room, dreaming of whatever little kids dream of. Without warning, without knowing why. The child suddenly woke up staring at the foot of the bed. There, right there inside their room stood a man. Or, well, not exactly a man. It looked like a man, a short man with a distinctive hat. A very distinctive Fedora style hat.

Duendes
Folklore is full of stories of Little People known by many names. The Wompanoag tribe call them pukwudgies. The Comanche call them nunnupi. In Scandinavia they’re called nisse. In Great Britain, Ireland, and Scotland there are fae, pixies, tylwyth teg, and broonies. And those of us from regions settled by the Spanish or Portuguese, anywhere from the Philippines to the Caribbean, have duendes.

I found you from another podcast and am happy to find someone who focuses on Latin American and Caribbean lore. Especially as someone who was raised not being told about stories and myths and feeling disconnected to my culture because of it.

I am so exited for a show that focuses on latin/caribbean culture! The majority of podcasts focus on US or Europe lore, so I am excited for representation! Plus I really enjoy the way the stories are told!
