As the President and CEO of United Way of Calgary and Area, Karen Young has dedicated her life to improving the lives of her fellow Calgarians. Whether through her 20-year tenure as Director of Community and Neighbourhood Services with The City of Calgary or her role on many Calgary community boards and committees, Karen’s tireless work social change earned her the 2020 Calgary Influential Women in Business Award in the Social Enterprise category. Today, Karen speaks with Gilbert about the spark that ignited her long career of doing communal good, as well as the challenges that she has overcome along the way.
