ABOUT OUR GUEST



Marco Visconti is a lifelong practitioner of the Western Esoteric Tradition, with a particular interest in Thelema and Crowleyana.



Between 2014 and 2018, he worked at Treadwell’s Books, a hub of international expertise on Western esotericism in London. Prior to that, he was a music professional with an international career spanning over 15 years with bands such as XP8 and Faderhead.



He translated numerous key esoteric texts from English to Italian, such as Michael Bertiaux’s Lucky Hoodoo. In recent years, he organised the online community Magick Without Tears, teaching magick online to over 300 students—and counting.



His first book, The Aleister Crowley Manual: Thelemic Magick in Modern Times, has been a commercial and critical success and has been translated into Italian and Polish. He's currently working on his second book, in which he will explore the next steps in the Thelemic Current and unveil the mysteries of the Holy Guardian Angel and the Thoth Tarot.

of proportional energy." Drawing from my extensive fieldwork in the
anthropology of religion, I will explain how practitioners from diverse
traditions optimise their rituals and spells to achieve desired
outcomes.

We’ll answer key questions such as:
* How does the path of least resistance manifest in magic?
* Why do improbable outcomes require more energy?
* How do practitioners break down complex goals into manageable steps?
* What role do group rituals play in amplifying magical potency?

You'll learn how the path of least resistance manifests in magical
contexts, allowing effects to occur with minimal opposition and energy
expenditure. We'll explore how this principle is analogous to natural
sciences, guiding practitioners to align their will with the most
accessible and receptive pathways. Additionally, I'll introduce the
principle of proportional energy, which posits that the more unlikely an
event, the greater the energy required to bring it about.

This principle explains why certain outcomes, like winning the lottery,
are deemed nearly impossible to achieve through magic. Through
real-world examples and field observations, we'll see how practitioners
break down complex goals into manageable steps and utilise group rituals
to amplify their efforts. These strategies not only enhance the potency
of their magic but also reflect a pragmatic, adaptive approach to
navigating the dynamics of resistance and possibility.

Phil Hine is renowned for his foundational role in popularising chaos magick, a paradigm that challenges conventional magical systems by advocating a highly individualistic and experimental approach. His seminal texts, such as "Condensed Chaos" and "Prime Chaos," have been pivotal in providing a framework that is both accessible and adaptable, urging practitioners to forge their own path in the magical landscape.





BIOGRAPHY



Phil Hine has been a practicing occultist for over forty-five years, with a career spanning Wicca, ritual Magic, Chaos Magic and nondual Tantra. Together with Rodney Orpheus, he co-created and edited the UK’s first monthly Pagan magazine, Pagan News (1988-92). His books include: Condensed Chaos, Prime Chaos, The Pseudonomicon, Hine’s Varieties: Chaos & Beyond, Acts of Magical Resistance, Queerying Occultures and Wheels within Wheels: Chakras and Western Esotericism. In 2019, he founded Twisted Trunk, a small press specializing in publishing translations of rare Tantric texts. Forthcoming publications are Delinquent Elementals, co-edited with Rodney Orpheus (Strange Attractor, 2024) and Yoginis: Sex, Death and Possession in Early Tantra (Original Falcon Press).
