    Beware of Short Cuts

    Beware of Short Cuts

I hate to see anyone, but especially caring parents, preyed upon by unscrupulous advertisers. I got ads for two products making some really bold promises to turn difficult parenting challenges into a breeze. I share these in this episode, the promises these companies make, why they are not legitimate and how to accomplish these two goals with actionable steps that are based in solid child development research.

When to Step in and When to Support from the Sidelines

When to Step in and When to Support from the Sidelines

A mom wants to know how to help her son fix his bully situation. Should she/dad step in? Or is there a way to empower her son to handle it on his own and let them know he won't be a victim? It's often hard to know when we are overstepping and taking away an opportunity for our child to handle situations for themselves and when it's a good idea to step in and guide in a bigger way. I give my feedback on this situation, and talk about bullying on a deeper level, how to talk to kids about it and lessons we can all learn when our kids are faced with some unfortunate life challenges.

Love love!

I absolutely love love this podcast (and the classes). Erin’s approach to parenting works is so aligned to mine so I know what she says, works! I have a 15 month old and have been able to deal with all “issues” so quickly and easily due to Erin’s advice. It’s made my life has a mom so much fun and stress free!

Disappointed

I have been enjoying your podcasts tremendously until the ads starting becoming excessive. In addition, I am so disappointed that you now advertise animal flesh for consumption. Both our vegetarian family and our dear non-veg family friends simply cannot, in today’s environmental and ethical climate, condone exposing our kids to the promotion of animal flesh consumption on mass media. Unfortunately the reality is that our kids often listen to your podcasts with us.

Beyond kids though, I find it so upsetting to listen to the adverts on animal flesh consumption, that I have not been able to finish one podcast since those ads started. This is such a pity because I really find your podcasts so helpful. I am a psychologist and early parenting facilitator and used to widely recommend your podcasts. I can no longer do so because of these ads. Furthermore, your gentle approach reaches many veg families and professionals, and I hope you reconsider the promotion of animal flesh consumption to financially fuel your wonderful content.
