DCSZA ,

Really excellent historical podcast

I knew little about this era of history when I started, but I can't imagine a better guide than Pierson. He not only takes one through the intricacies of Byzantine history in careful, clear detail, but also regularly gives updates on the context in which the Byzantines lived: The spread of Christianity, Islam and the caliphate, the Bulgars and other steppe people invasions, Charlemagne, and more. It's a fantastic listen. Highly recommended.

A detailed discussion of Byzantium

As with all podcasts it took me a couple of episodes to get used to the presenters laconic style. Now I’m hooked. This history is detailed, impeccably researched, amusing and delightfully narrated.
