History of Rome

This is probably one of the best podcast series ever. Mike Duncan takes one, over a period of five years, from the infant mythical beginnings of a town that, so the story goes, included fratricide during the building of its walls, all the bloody way to the end of an empire, centuries later. The story, it must be said immediately, is not nearly as gory in the telling as it may sound. Mike Duncan, an amateur historian, has gatherered an ever-growing audience over the 5 -odd years of this series. His quirky sense of humour draws one in and quickly makes the listening to the History of Rome, compulsive, addictive and utterly necessary. Along the way, we've met "Mrs History of Rome" (from even before the nuptials) and had several highly popular History of Rome tours. The end of the story is certainly a tragedy to this listener. Is there anyone out there who can prevail on Duncan to find another historical topic through which we can meander and savour with him?
