In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss how to overcome burnout and rejuvenate your life for personal success.

Overcome Burnout and Ignite Your Life

We’ve all been there. Things are tough at work, and they’re not going much better at home. You’re stressed, you can’t sleep, and your dog ran away from home. Sometimes, it just seems like there aren’t enough hours in the day.

It can be hard to stop the negative thought patterns that only serve to make you feel even worse.

Stress is a part of life, but there are times it can get completely out of hand. When life seems too hard to handle, it’s time to take back some control. Luckily, there are many ways to accomplish this.

Use these ideas to put mental and physical burnout behind you:

    * Clean up your diet. When you’re feeling burned out, it can help to eat a healthier diet. Junk food creates more stress and load for your body to deal with. Cutting back on your calories and providing quality nutrition to your body can make a positive difference.

    * Get more sleep. Working harder or longer isn’t a solution for your burnout. Sometimes, the best option is to call it a night a couple of hours earlier than normal and get some extra rest. Allow yourself to sleep in on the weekends if you need to. Take naps. Rest helps.

    * Avoid caffeine. Caffeine is the last thing you need if you’re feeling frazzled. Caffeine stimulates your body and your mind. It can create more challenges than it solves.* Meditate. Meditation, listening to relaxing music, praying, or anything else that relaxes your mind can be beneficial. Avoid ruminating over the challenges in your life. Your brain doesn’t get a break unless you create one.

    * Give yourself a change of scenery. It’s easy to get stuck in a rut when the scenery never changes. Being in the same couple of places day after day can limit your perspective and close your mind to the many possibilities that are open to you. Take a weekend and go camping.* Spend time with people you genuinely like. This has been shown to be one of the best ways to recover from mental burnout. Spending time with someone that makes you smile and feel relaxed can be the best medicine.* Evaluate your life. Consider how you came to be in this situation. Do you need to make some changes at work, a different job, or a more satisfying relationship? Could it help you to speak to a professional? What needs to happen to prevent the same situation from happening again?* Avoid starting anything new. You already have enough on your plate. Avoid adding even more! Get a handle on your current situation first. Taking on more responsibilities will be challenging during this time.* Laugh. Laughing will always make you feel better. Who’s your funniest friend? What’s the funniest movie you’ve ever seen? How can you make yourself laugh? A night of laughter will give you a mental reset and put you in a better position to handle the challenges in your life.

    * Find your Passion.  There is nothing worse than having to wake up every morning during the week to mindlessly go do work you don’t care about or that you feel isn’t adding anything to the ...

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss How to Increase Your Mental Fitness for personal success.

How to Increase Your Mental Fitness

Have you ever noticed you don’t feel quite as mentally sharp when you do the same mundane things day in and day out? This is actually physically true. If you use your brain for new tasks, it gets sharper.

Our brains have an ability to actually change structure and physiology in response to new stimuli and challenges. To give your mind this kind of food for growth, try some of the suggestions below.

    * Play mental games. Crosswords, brain teasers, mazes, Sudoku, and other puzzles are all effective ways to challenge your mind. So try something new and really give your brain a workout. Even the occasional video game has something to offer.

    * These are especially good if they’re new experiences for you. Someone just beginning crossword puzzles is going to experience more improvement in mental fitness than someone that has been doing them for years.

    * Exercise regularly. Moving your body during exercise accomplishes many things:* The brain is forced to send stronger impulses to your muscles when moving vigorously or against resistance.* The coordination required and the use of muscles not normally used both challenge the brain.* The flow of blood and nutrients through the brain is increased.

    * Play music. Learning a new musical instrument is a great way to challenge your mental fitness. This is particularly true for someone who has never played a musical instrument.

    * Learning musical theory is like learning a new language. Not only is music an enjoyable way to spend free time, but it’s also great for your brain. Now might be the perfect time to pull out the phone book and look into piano or violin lessons.* Meditate your way to mental fitness. Meditation challenges your brain by creating a new mental state. It’s relaxing, plus it teaches your mind the ability to focus, which is a huge task for many of us. Meditation is a great way to improve mental fitness.

    * Read something new every day. Reading is a complicated mental process that requires processing information quickly. Try reading something new that interests you. You’ll get the added benefit of novelty, enhance your brain function, and learn something as well.* Challenge your memory. Each day, take a minute and try to remember the previous day. What did you have for lunch? What happened at work? Try to remember what you did last weekend. What happened last Christmas?* Make a list of 10 items and then see if you can remember them without cheating! Part of the memory loss sometimes associated with aging is due to not using our powers of recollection on a regular basis.* Watch less television. You’ll be amazed how much better you feel in every way if you watch less TV. You can do so many things to improve your mind and body that you’ll never get around to if you’re watching too much TV. They don’t call it the idiot box for nothing.

Your mental fitness doesn’t have to decline dramatically as you age. The key is to expose yourself to new and challenging experi...

Mental Strength And Physical Fitness: Warrior Mind Podcast #533

Mental Strength And Physical Fitness: Warrior Mind Podcast #533

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to discuss the correlation between physical fitness and mental strength for personal success.

Develop Mental Strength Through Physical Fitness

Although different aspects of your being operate independently, they’re still connected. At some point, they come together to create the best being possible. That explains why your physical and mental states are co-related. Balance in one area is easily transferred to another.

Are you experiencing situations that put a strain on your mental processes? Do you feel stressed out and unable to make decisions? Mental strength can be difficult to acquire, but it’s much easier if you focus on achieving physical fitness first.

By ensuring your body is strong, challenged, and fully tuned, you can encourage mental toughness and realize awesome physical achievements.

Try these strategies to strengthen both your mental and physical fitness:

    * Make your workouts uncomfortable. It’s important to challenge yourself. Instead of doing what you know you can, test your limits. Keep changing the game so you build determination.

Develop an indomitable spirit by jogging outdoors during winter instead of on the treadmill. It’s easy and comfortable to use the treadmill. Running outside in cold climates tests your limits. It also allows you to feel confident in your abilities when you succeed.

Fitness challenges help you transfer that confidence and determination to other parts of your life. Uncomfortable life situations can really take a toll. But you’ve already overcome fitness challenges. Now, you can use those victories to equip you with coping mechanisms for mentally challenging situations.

    2. Participate in physical competitions. Competitions are usually intimidating, especially if you have a formidable opponent. But as you participate in more competitions, your self-esteem develops at the same time.

Invite someone who is better at a challenge than you to a contest. Having that person as an opponent helps you readily identify your shortcomings and strengthen your skills. As you compete, you come to terms with your abilities. And although you may be less impressive than your opponent, you can truly develop an appreciation for the level you’ve reached.

In all your competitions, avoid allowing pride to push you beyond your limits. You probably want to prove that you’re solid competition. But avoid doing so at risk of hurting yourself physically.

3, Take part in speed training. You may have other strong suits that don’t include being fast on your feet. But you’d be surprised how much speed training can help you mentally. Practicing sprints and trying to shorten reaction time can help you work more efficiently.

When you develop a quick reaction time, it’s easier for you to make good decisions under pressure.

Speed training also helps you to work quickly and accurately. It’s great if you can speed through tasks.

How To Strengthen Your Integrity: Warrior Mind Podcast #532

How To Strengthen Your Integrity: Warrior Mind Podcast #532

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to be going over some tips to help strengthen your integrity for personal success.

Strengthen Your Integrity With These Easy Tips

Being honest and having strong moral principles isn’t easy. However, life is easier when you live with integrity. Others can trust you, and that trust is useful, even if it isn’t easily earned. Acting with integrity is harder in the short-term, but invaluable down the road. Life steadily gets easier when you act with integrity.

Live life with honesty and integrity:

    * Work on your personal growth. Developing yourself is an effective way to strengthen your integrity. When you grow as a person, you become more comfortable with yourself and feel less need to be inauthentic.* * Be reliable. Be on time, avoid cancelling appointments, and do what you say you’re going to do. If you say that you’ll deliver your report by noon on Friday, ensure that it’s done on time. It’s easy to be reliable if you under-promise. Make promises you know you can keep and you’ll never disappoint anyone.* Be honest with yourself. Before you do or say something, question why you’re doing it. What is your real purpose? Are you being self-serving at the expense of others, or are your motives more honorable? Self-awareness is a primary component of integrity.

More on the Tips to Strengthen Your Integrity

    * Be gentle, but be honest. Do you people believe that you’re an honest person? Do you lie to be comfortable or to pretend that you’re something you’re not? However, honesty isn’t a license to tell a coworker that she’s fat or that her husband looks like a troll.* Live by your values each day. If you’re unaware of your values, now would be a great time to figure them out and list them. Knowing your values makes it easier to make decisions. It also makes your behavior more predictable, which makes others more comfortable. Know your values and live them each day.* Be willing to say no. When you say yes to things you don’t want to do, you’re not demonstrating integrity. You don’t have to take part in every opportunity that’s presented to you. Valuing your time is smart. Be honest and say no when you mean it.* Be more confident. Confident people are comfortable. Comfortable people are better able to act with integrity. A lack of integrity is often a response to discomfort. You’re not comfortable meeting your new girlfriend’s parents, so you fake an alternate appointment. You lack the confidence to give a speech at work, so you stay home “sick.”

    * The more uncomfortable you are each day, the more likely your integrity will be challenged. Confidence and self-esteem are the answer. Work on both each day.

    * Stop doing the things you know you shouldn’t do. Are you stealing pens and post-it notes from work? Stealing your neighbor’s Sunday paper? Not putting a quarter in the kitty at work when you pour yourself a cup of coffee? Stealing napkins from the fast-food restaurant to stock your kitchen? Think about your behavior and adjust accordingly.* Be willing to stand up for something. Most of us have values and opinions, but few are willing to even share them, never mind stand up for them. While others won’t always agree with your stances, they will respect you for having them.

9 Ways to Boost Your Self-Confidence: Warrior Mind Podcast #531

9 Ways to Boost Your Self-Confidence: Warrior Mind Podcast #531

Over eight years and going strong!  With over 1M downloads from over 18 countries and 7 continents’…. this is the Warrior Mind Podcast.

In this episode of the Warrior Mind Podcast, I’m going to be going over 99 Sure-Fire Actions to Boost Your Self-Confidence for personal success.

    9 Sure-Fire Actions to Boost Your Self-Confidence

Life is more enjoyable when you feel confident. It’s also easier to be successful. A lack of confidence can get in the way of your career, relationships, and social life. Low self-confidence can trip you up when you least expect it.

Luckily, your sense of self-confidence is under your control. If you avoid managing it, it will be lower than you deserve.

Your level of self-confidence might seem random, but you can choose to direct it as you see fit.

Increase your self-confidence and feel better about yourself and your future:

    * Have a small success. It can be mundane, like getting the garage cleaned out. Have an intention and follow through on it. When you intend to do something and accomplish it, you feel more confident.* Let go of the past. You’ve had a few things go wrong in the past, but that has nothing to do with today. Your future is created today. There’s no reason to weigh yourself down with anything that’s happened in the past.* Hit the gym. Go for a run or do 25 pushups. Even a vigorous walk can boost your self-confidence. Break a sweat and you’ll boost your confidence.

    * Build your social skills. A lack of social skills is a common cause of low self-confidence. Interacting with others is an important activity. When you know that you can do it well, your self-confidence will increase. There are many books and websites created to address this issue.* Hang out with a positive crowd. The people around you affect your mood and outlook on life. Your confidence is affected, too. Create a social group that supports you and maintains a positive attitude.* Tackle a fear. Afraid of spiders? Go to the pet store and ask to hold a tarantula. Fear of heights? Find a building downtown that allows the public to use the observation deck. We make every effort to avoid the things we fear. Rather than hiding, face a fear head-on and notice how confident you feel afterwards. Bravery and self-confidence are cousins.* Make a list of your past successes. You’ve had at least a few. You’ve probably forgotten more than you remember! Take just a minute or two to remember these great successes. You’ll feel more powerful after just 60 seconds.

    * Better yet, make a list and carry it with you. Start with your childhood and move forward in time to the present day. When you’re feeling down, pull out your list and bask in your successes.* Do something you’re good at. After a hard day, nothing can boost your confidence like spending some time at an activity you excel at. Make a list of the things you do well and spend some time each day doing one of them. Build this time into your schedule.* If possible, create a social event around the activity. Having someone see you do something well is an even bigger boost to your self-confidence.* Get out of your head. A lack of confidence is a sign that you’re spending too much time thinking about yourself. Put the focus on others and the current activity. It’s hard to lack confidence if you’re not even thinking about yourself. If you’re alone,
