    The Persecuted

    The Persecuted

As Jesus anticipates his impending death on the cross, he prepares his disciples for what will happen to them after he is gone. They will be persecuted because of their love for Jesus — some even killed — but such persecution will be an encouragement to them because it identifies them with their Savior. He also assures them he will send a Helper and that through this Helper they will boldly tell others about who Jesus truly is and what he has done on behalf of sinners. Listen as Chris Moore, Redeemer coordinator for equipping, preaches “The Persecuted” from John 15:18—16:4.

    The Vine

    The Vine

Throughout the Gospel of John, Jesus made several “I Am” statements — declaratory proclamations of who he is — and in the last one before he went to the cross, he pronounced, “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser.” This week Mike Mathis, Redeemer director of family ministries, preaches “The Vine” from John 15:1–17. The richness of this declaration is astounding — our lives and the source of all we do is bound up in Jesus. Those who belong to Christ bear fruit that is produced through his lifeblood. Moreover, in hardships and suffering, we can trust that God’s capable hands are pruning us so that we may produce even more fruit that reflect the character of our Savior.

    The Spirit

    The Spirit

Before Jesus died, he told his disciples not to be troubled or afraid. He comforted them, saying he would send a Helper, his Spirit, who would be with them always and would dwell within them, teach them, and help them remember all that he had taught. His Spirit would give them the peace of God. Today, Christ followers have this same promise — if you believe in Jesus and follow him, the Holy Spirit will live in you, guiding you and giving you peace. Listen as Pastor Morgan Renew preaches “The Spirit” from John 14:15–31.

    The Way

    The Way

On the evening before his death, Jesus’ disciples were troubled, but Jesus reassured them, saying, “You know the way to where I am going.” When Thomas questioned Jesus and said he did not know the way, Jesus responded, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” To know and love Jesus is to know and love his Father. The only way to everlasting life is through Jesus the Son. Jesus is the Way. Listen as Pastor Morgan Renew preaches “The Way” from John 14:1–14.

    The Commandment

    The Commandment

In John 13:1 we learned that the appointed time of Jesus’ death was during the Passover Feast. On the night before the feast, Jesus ate one last meal with his twelve disciples. It is there that Jesus revealed that he would be betrayed by one of his dearest friends, Judas. And yet, even in the face of betrayal and death, Jesus continues to minister to those whom he loved. Listen as Pastor Dave Furman preaches “The Commandment” from John 13:18–38.

Adopted as Sons: The Gospel's Highest Privilege

Adopted as Sons: The Gospel's Highest Privilege

Those who have faith in the Son, Jesus Christ, become sons of God, heirs through Jesus to the promises made to Abraham. This privilege caused the apostle John to exclaim, “Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto us that we should be called sons of God! And that is what we are!” And in his letter to the Galatians, the apostle Paul expounds on what a gift it is to be a son of God. In this sermon Gulf Theological Seminary professor TJ Smith preaches “Adopted as Sons: The Gospel’s Highest Privilege” from Galatians 4:1–7.
