Saying Goodbye to Summer to Make Way for Fall

Savoring the warmth and long, light-filled days is what early Septmber is all about. Just as one eye begins to peek at the fun of fall around the corner, we still have every right to hold on to the joys of summer for just a bit longer.  Our gardens certainly continue to grow wild and our dinner tables still call for easy, fresh options while dining al fresco.  And while we are always game to rush the coming of fall and all its coziness, the heat and the blazing sun simply won’t allow it. Therefore, we will take the cue from nature, and we will savor these last summer-like days just a little bit longer.  In today’s episode, we will recap the trending home magazine throughlines for summer 2024. From lake life to BLT’s, we will rewind and reflect - as inspired by the pages of our favorite home magazines.   Taking inspiration from the article Gardens Gone Wild in the August / September issue of Country Living magazine, we will discuss the state of our own gardens - as we find them in their late summer glory (or demise). Our friends and listeners will be sharing their State of the Garden addresses, as well.  The question on everyone’s mind, every single day of the year is What is for Dinner? We have the answer to that: Slow Cooker Pulled Pork, also from CL’s August/September issue. It’s been tasted. It’s been tested. And we have all of our notes to share with you.  It’s so good to be back, friends. Thank you for being here. Let’s celebrate these late summer days! This is the Page Living Podcast, and YOU are welcome here.

The Valentines Episode: Sweets, House Plants, and Hikes Are for Lovers

Sponsored by Green Space Design by Jude In today’s episode, we are serving up ideas to make your Valentine’s Day cozy and connected - - inspired from the pages of our favorite home magazines.   We have taken the recipe for the Red Velvet Brownie Torte (hello!) from the February 2023 issue of Real Simple Magazine into our home test kitchens, and we are excited to share that recipe, as well as our thoughts and what we learned along the way about how to pull it off without a hitch. And that’s a good thing because with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, there’s no room for error.  And while flowers are lovely on Valentine’s Day, our magazines know us so well to know that a house plant is a much appreciated and adored exchange for the traditional bouquet. Both All Recipes and Sunset magazines in their February 2023 issues had articles on house plants, so we will dig into their appeal, their healing powers, and of course, how to keep them alive as we speak to plant shop owner, Jude Stevens of Green Space Design by Jude in Salem, Oregon.  And we fill in the gap with a topic that we felt was lacking in allllll of our magazines. Something that I personally was searching for and needing but could not find- and that is creative ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the family - alongside the usual chocolate indulgence and expressions of love. So, I’ll share an idea I have for everyone - and that is a Valentine’s Day Heart Hunt Hike. It’s a tradition we have done in our family since Milo was able to walk, and we look forward to it every year. So, if you’re needing an activity to do with the family on love day, this could be it.  Welcome to our Valentine’s Day celebration. Everyone put out your handmade kleenex box. It’s time to deliver tiny Valentines to each other. This is the Page Living Podcast. You are so loved. And you are more than welcome here.
