While in Cape Town, South Africa, I visited Robben Island. In a dimly lit former administration room of the prison facility, I sat down with Thulani Mabaso, former inmate at Robben Island, comrade of South African former President Nelson Mandela and renowned speaker and lecturer on South Africa's apartheid and the A.N.C.'s liberation movement. His charge? Terrorism. I explore what lead Mabaso to Robben Island in the 1980s and the hope and future of South Africa that keeps him there today.
