Who are our NHS Unsung Heroes? - part 2

As we approach the anniversary of the UK's first COVID-19 lockdown and celebrate the contributions of women during International Women's Day (and every day!), we speak to two extraordinary unsung NHS heroes, Megan and Lauren. From cleaners and physio therapists, to canteen professionals and redeployed corporate staff, the whole of the NHS has worked alongside our doctors and nurses to protect and serve the UK throughout the pandemic. Across this two-part episode, we wanted to help raise awareness of our unsung NHS heroes, hear how they're copying with the ongoing pandemic and see what they would say in an audience with the PM, Boris Johnson and Health Secretary, Matt Hancock, and their parting messages for the public.

We're back!!! We've taken a break, had another lockdown and now we're back with part 2 of series 1. What is financial abuse and will the Domestic Abuse Bill solve the problem?

In this week’s episode, we hear from our friend & colleague, Amy Brooker. Amy joins us to explore an important and emotive issue impacting many people's lives in the UK: domestic abuse. During our discussion, we take a deep dive into economic and financial abuse and the adverse consequences of the current Universal Credit system on those being abused. We interview Amy, who penned her dissertation on this subject, as the Domestic Abuse Bill makes its way through the House of Lords. We talk through: definitions, abuse in the LGBTQ+ community, why legislation is important, what’s missing and the impacts COVID-19 have had on domestic abuse.

Is Coronavirus turning the clock back on gender equality?

In this episode; we explore the government's move to suspend gender pay gap reporting (due to COVID-19), what impact the virus is having on our responsibilities in the home and how we can continue to work productively when living and working in the same space. As we highlight the importance of reporting of data and reporting on gender, we wanted to also highlight the following petition, which calls on the government to introduce mandatory ethnicity pay gap reporting.
