We underestimate how much we can learn from the past decade in contrast to how much we can learn from the past year. The longer the time frame you reflect on, the more pronounced patterns have to be for you to notice them. This week, I’m completing my 19th lap around the sun. Instead of thinking about just last year, I decided to think about the last decade. I have one more year to go to end my teenagers era, but I’m close enough to the end to think about which big ideas in my life have shifted most dramatically.

Here are three opinions I wish I’d examined more closely much sooner.
