Winner of Les Victoires du Reggae, the young Martin Mussard aka Naâman is a world-touring and international-recognised reggae sta. Many would argue that Naâman is in many respects France’s torch-bearer for a musical style that has never run dry. With a number of successful albums and singles to his credit, he continues to enthral the world with his spirited performances.   

On the occasion of World Music Day, catch Naâman in conversation with India’s most well-known reggae outfit the Reggae Rajahs.

We present the coming together of Hyderabadi songwriter Alluri with Ayla Millepied Sen from Bordeaux, but now finding footing in Istanbul.   

For Fête de la Musique, both Alluri and Ayla will offer up their musical pieces in two separate original performances followed by a 30-minute dialogue with each other that will see them look back o their careers, Alluri’s as shaped by his Indian roots and British rock influences, and Ayla’s through retracing her life and heart split between Turkey and France.   

Audiences can thus listen in to their visions as rockers and songwriters at the crossroads of two cultures.

Suryakant Sawhney, better known as Lifafa has blended the nuances of old and new to create a contemporary sound that is Indian and heart but truly worldly in its outlook. He entire body of work beginning with his eponymous debut album in 2013, to his critically-acclaimed release Jaago in 2019, to his most recent SUPERPOWER 2020 have cemented his name as light to look towards in India’s musical landscape. This is, of course, discounting his other body of work as part of indie darlings Peter Cat Recording Co. which stands tall in its own right.

From France, we have Jean Janin, founder and artistic director of Roche Musique, Jean Janin who many around the world also know as Cezaire. Roche Musique is a household name in modern French music and is home to artists such as FKJ, Didi Han, Darius, Wayne Snow, Wanting and many more.   

Sohail Arora also known as Ez Riser represents India and the formidable Krunk Kulture, the label born from his cutting-edge live music agency Krunk. Krunk Kulture is in the middle of a steady stream of releases comprising some of India’s most forward-thinking artists like OX7GEN, Fopchu, Girls On Canvas and more.

Born in 1984, Anne Paceo is a globetrotting, trail-blazing drummer who as far as she can remember has always felt the fundamental, relentless and insatiable urge to play, create and share her music. Driven by her passion she has performed in over 43 countries, on 5 continents, with some of the greatest musicians, and has won 3 times Victoire de la Musique (French Grammy Awards) and recorded as lead 6 critically acclaimed albums-the first at 24 years old-on Laborie Jazz records.  

Her latest album - Circles Live - a live rendition of her 2017 release Circles, was recorded at the French festival Jazz sous les Pommiers, and showcases an artist at the zenith of her powers.

A craftsman on the margins of the music-industry, resilient to ephemeral musical trends, Wax Tailor continues to dig its groove in the shadow of the media’s “suns”. A French independent producer recognized internationally, he has been on the road for more than 20 years, has released 6 studio albums, played more than 800 concerts in 60 countries and won numerous awards. 

His latest album ‘The Shadow Of Their Suns’ features guests such as Mark Lanegan of Screaming Trees and Del The Funky Homosapien. To talk about that and hopefully a lot more, Wax Tailor joins one of India’s finest turntablists and hip-hop flag bearers DJ Uri in conversation for what is set to be an entertaining World Music Day exchange.
