A Muslim & A Jew Go There
“A Muslim & A Jew Go There” is a brand new podcast produced by Instinct Productions, hosted by comedian David Baddiel (author of “Jews Don’t Count”) and politician Sayeeda Warsi (“Muslims Don’t Matter”) who will take on whatever controversy hits the headlines each week, providing context and discussion around current political and cultural events involving and affecting British Muslims and Jews. Covering topics from antisemitism in the Labour party and Islamophobia in the Conservative Party to debating concepts like “racism hierarchies”, “non-visible minorities” and “victim olympics”, as well as tropes and stereotypes, and the Middle East and its impact on Jewish and Muslim communities in Britain, this topical, often funny podcast will go there in a way others might not dare. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Great but not quite there

Listened for the first time to the latest episode. Loved it but there were a couple of thing a that irked me. Firstly I was really annoyed about David’s lack of understanding about how one rotten egg spoils the basket. People without a great understanding of the Jewish faith (me being one) wouldn’t necessarily know what the difference Is between what Jewish people believe is right and what their apparent(in the public’s eye) Jewish leader Netanyahu is doing. Exactly as sayeeda said as per Islam and extremists. I understand and like the premise of the show but feel like David needs to accept some of the shortcomings of sections of his religion cos nothing is perfect. It’s ok to be combative as long as you have listened to what the other person has said.
Interesting but not great discussions

Interesting but I found both tend to stick to narrow positions with not a great deal of depth to the discussions. When Baddiel actually accused Naomi Klein of being dangerous I realised he was very set in his views and not really interested in broader critical analysis
Just brilliant

Baddiel and Warsi disagree agreeably even better than Campbell and Stewart! But more importantly, they discuss issues of race and religion with more depth, nuance and humour than any other conversations in these topics I’ve heard.
