AEWCH 258: SREĆKO HORVAT, UNA MULLALLY, MARK O'CONNELL on APOCALYPSE & RENEWAL
On Thursday, March 28, myself and journalist & organizer UNA MULLALLY, presented the event THE BEGINNING IS NEAR in Dublin, where we talked about the end of the world and what comes after that. It marked in person with frequent AEWCH guests, philosopher and activist SREĆKO HORVAT, and cultural critic and writer MARK O'CONNELL. The event marked Srećko's first speaking engagement in Ireland, and also my first attempt at creating an "AEWCH event" in Ireland. I'd love to do many more.
The night was broken into halves: first, we talked about apocalypse. Then we had a short break and spoke about renewal. What arose was a challenging set of indications and prospects, failures and pathways.
Some questions that came up:
Is the apocalypse always happening?
What does the esoteric tell us about how to live beyond apocalypse?
What is the role of art in renewal?
Why is it important to evade the political realm?
What is the use of hope?
Enjoy the episode! -

Customer Reviews
Love this podcast the most.
Very grateful to have Conner’s voice in amongst modern media and noise. I have been listening to aewcb for years now and it seems like such an integral part of my life in such an easy way. Also it’s refreshing to listen to opposing views be discussed with respect and curiosity. With great love I highly recommend the podcast and a listen to any past episodes.
One of my all time favourite podcasts
Conner Habib is just an absolute gem! The subject matter is broad ranging, envigorating and relevant; the way that complex ideas are laid out and discussed with curiousity, humility and clarity make for excellent listening. Conner‘s demeanour is also just very passionate and loving, which is a much needed balm for the soul. 5 stars, I look forward to every episode!
Great anthropop perspective
Love this show (and your sister’s show too) but would love it when speaking of the seasons how these match for seasons and celebrations in Australia. Eg St Michael is emerging at this time pre Christmas but does not coincide with Autumn... so how does this work? Also Easter coincides with Autumn... and so on.
