#240: Oscars, Hugh Grant, Meg White

Ooh it’s a big one this week, as we unpack THE awards ceremony of every year, the Oscars. From the champagne (beige) carpet, to what Hugh Grant said on it. Little donkeys and Cocaine Bear’s. We celebrate the reason for the season too, the incredible and historic wins in a year dominated by Everything Everywhere All At Once.

The Oscars gift bags get a look in too, for better and worse. Why were bits of Aboriginal land gifted, with an Indigenous groups name attached, without their knowledge?

And it wouldn’t be a red/beige carpet event without a shit ton of FARSHUN. Oh we have a lot to unpack here.

Meanwhile Lizzo is coming to Australia (yay!), and Meg White’s drumming is being called out by some guy and said guy is regretting that tweet a lot. And Myf is banging on about a fun new TV series “Shrinking”, while Zan is back in the books with a new novel by Rebecca Makkai.

If you’ve found these show notes, well done! While you’re here, feel free to tap us a rating or leave a review. We love reading them, and it helps other people find Bang On. Thank you Bang Fam. xx
