Episode 67 - Making Friends
Was really looking forward to this episode as I think this topic is so important and absolutely not spoken about enough. It was refreshing to hear a few of you talk about how inclusive you are of ppl you can see are new to a space or very clearly do not feel as comfortable. I deeply wish this was done so much more. Many mothers often just drown or struggle in silence and I think it’s ridiculous when we are all moving through the same thing. Did just want to red flag though, super concerning that there was a reference made to Jordan Peterson and a specific quote used to try and contextualise the relate ability of making friends as a mother and a woman. JP is an incredibly misogynistic, trans phobic, discriminative and harmful presence in social media and his cult like ability to recruit ‘believers’ is super concerning. It was so disappointing to hear him being referenced in such a vulnerable space exploring motherhood and womanhood as he in fact, completely contradicts what I am hoping this episode and podcast was developed to do - empower and nurture mothers and women. Super inappropriate and embarrassing reference to make, of all the ppl to refer to! Also wanted to add, really not sure how not vaccinating your children is a parenting choice vs not connected to values given it is literally giving yourselves the power to decide to put your children’s health at risk regardless on an enormous amount of medically backed research and science indicating not just the benefits but the actual NEED for children to be vaccinated against diseases. How this is simply a ‘parenting choice’ vs core values? Have loved B2F for so long but this really left me feeling disappointed given the level of education and experience of all involved in the development.
