Part of the antidote to the modern malaise...
Bret unleashes his artistic and cultural viewpoints and opinions in the form of very articulate machine gunnery. He enables his guests to talk from the heart. Lifting back the veil on the plastic now he cuts to the quick and examines things in a very cold, hard light of artistic and humanistic worth. One of the rare voices that is just so spot on, he may make you cry tears of thanks in front of your preferred listening device...
Discovered some fascinating people
The show always has truly fascinating film makers, musicians, actors and other artists. Have discovered some incredible people through these chats. Bret's often cynical view of modern American cinema is backed up with a truly impressive knowledge of the decades of art preceding and - as a millennial - have made me yearn for this great period in cinema history (although I'm still not entirely certain it is as glorious in comparisons to today's offerings as Bret might argue). None the less a constantly high value podcast. Do listen!
Bring Bret Back!
Oh man. Where is he? I looked forward to his podcasts so much. After the Tarantino podcast I expected a break over Christmas and was looking forward to when the notification pinged to tell me the Bret Easton Ellis Podcast was hitting the ground running into 2016. But Jan went by, then Feb, then... nothing. I've relistened to a heap of the podcasst. And now, searching for something similar, am a subscriber to many others. But there's nothing like the Ellis approach. And nothing that gets close to the unique Ellis voice and rhythm of speech. It's right there in American Pyscho, my favourite book, but it's hard to turn pages while your vacuuming the house, working out in the gym, driving the dog to the vet to be euthanised. Is someone going to tell me I've missed something? That the podcast has moved somewhere else? That there are several episodes to listen to? I hope so...
