    113. Fearlessly Failing : My Dad & Hero - Noel Smith!

Today we have one of my all time fave heroes on the pod. Noel Smith aka my dad. He's kind, warm, funny and caring. The year I was born he opened up his own veterinary clinic and before that he was an equine vet (that's a fancy word for horse vet). We talk about career highs and lows, being a single parent whilst trying to run his business and let's not forget his love for the mighty Dons (that's the Bombers in ALF footy) I hope you love this podcast with one of the coolest humans in my life. Love you Dad x

    Big love,

    112. Byron Life Diary Ep 16

    112. Byron Life Diary Ep 16

Welcome to the "Byron Life" episode; each Friday I’m going to do a little check-in, or a bit of a diary entry if you will. I’ll let you know what we’ve been up to in Byron Bay. I’ll also answer any questions you may have so I invite you to DM me on insta if you’d like me to cover a specific topic on the Friday check-in. Health, wellness, yoges, Byron things.. Anything you'd like really. These episodes will be shorter, more like 20 mins, so they should be a nice easy listen. Hope you enjoy them, as always the goal is to inspire you to go after whatever is true for you. That dream that nobody knows about, but you.

The Monday episode will continue as usual, this is just an add-on. Think of it as diary entry check-in kind of vibe.

    Big love from Byron Bay,

    Lola

    111. Fearlessly Failing: Sandra Sully

    111. Fearlessly Failing: Sandra Sully

What a powerhouse! To be honest with you I was really nervous to interview this iconic TV queen. Sandra Sully has been at ch.10 for 31 years. In this episode we chat about how she accidentally fell into this career. We talk about some of the highs like interviewing the great Oprah and Olympic moments with some of her sports hero’s, but we also explore some of the confronting moments like being live on air as the September 11 terrorist attacks happened and being in the group covering the Thredbo landslide and Stuart Divers rescue. Sandra clearly has an awesome work ethic and we talk about our mutual love for putting everything in our diaries. She’s incredible, I hope her drive and passion inspires you.
Ps. She’s got an unreal poddy too “short black” she also interviewed me on her pod. It was equally intimidating being interviewed by such a talented journo! Anything I’m rambling, I hope you enjoy this pod!

    109. Fearlessly Failing: Being Vulnerable with Julia Grace

    109. Fearlessly Failing: Being Vulnerable with Julia Grace

Meet Julia Grace; she's been in the industry for 20 years; she's an actor, director and acting coach and I was lucky enough to have her as one of my acting teachers in Melbourne. From the very first class of Julia's I thought "wow this human is real and open" if you're an actor you'll gain loads form this human, and if you're not an actor i think you'll get loads from this chat too; Julia inspires me to be real, open and vulnerable.

    Big love,

Love it!

I really love listening to Lola’s podcast. She’s so down to earth and relatable. Great guests and I haven’t listened to one of her chats I didn’t like!

Not so much about failing anymore

I loved listening to this podcast during the early seasons, there were lots of meaty discussions about people’s challenges and how they overcame these to be the people they are.... the name fearlessly failing was perfect. In particular lots of great honest discussions about mental health.

But in the most recent couple of seasons I have found that the discussion about the failures has become lost and I feel like all I’m doing is listening to Lola interview people about their success, often with people involved in acting. I feel the purpose of the show has become lost and it’s more about Lolas personal interest in peoples careers or a common interest they share, rather than really focusing on their experiences of failure, which is something that takes a lot of vulnerability to share, it’s very easy for a celebrity to sit there and talk about all the things they have done because they do that during every interview, I have no interest in listening to that.

I want to hear less about all the things they have done and more about the challenges along the way.

I continue to listen occasionally because I used to find this pod cast really inspirational but now I just get annoyed listening to it.

I’m probably going to unsubscribe soon if the content doesn’t change back to actually being about fearlessly failing, and about how celebrities are just has human as the rest of us who struggle with vulnerability and hurdles along the way.

I’m leaving this review because I genuinely thought this podcast had a lot to offer but it has been lost along the way which is disappointing and I’d reallly like to see it return to being more focused on the failures.

Great podcast

Great podcast Lola. Discovered it via Surf Coast Creatives podcast. Really love your choice of guests, subjects, discussions and interview style. Good job!
