Comparison as a nurse - My thoughts
In the age of social media, it's easy to fall into the trap of comparison. We see our colleagues posting about their love for nursing, their energy, and their positive experiences, and we can't help but wonder, "What's wrong with me?”
In this episode, we’ll address the issue of comparison in nursing careers. With the prevalence of energetic and positive nurses online, it can lead to feelings of inadequacy and questioning one's nursing career. However, it is okay to not feel the same level of happiness and fulfillment as others in the profession and we should accept our reality and stop comparing ourselves to others. By creating space for self-reflection and engaging in activities that bring joy, nurses can begin to move towards a more fulfilling nursing career.
Key takeaways:
0:00:17 Feeling disconnected and comparing oneself to others
0:01:19 It's okay to not feel the same way about nursing
0:02:37 Accepting that everyone's reality is different
0:04:16 Nursing is not always rainbows and sunshine
0:05:44 Nervous system dysregulation and burnout
0:06:14 Stop comparing and acknowledge where you're at

High quality support for nurses
hey Liam, delighted to listen to your podcast - great variety, quality content and interviews. I'm so thrilled you're supporting nurses, because so many nurses come to me unable to maintain the 'High Performance' they would like to, worn down as they are in burnout. You're doing a great job brother!
Enjoyed speaking with you too.
So helpful!
5 stars all the way!!
I’ve never felt more prepared going into an interview. After listening to the preparing for interview podcasts it was the first time I ever took notes in & I felt so much more confident!
The realness (& lovely accent) makes it an easy listen. 👌🏻
Scored two job offers after listening to your podcast!
Thank you Liam for your wonderful podcast. I particularly found the episodes about job applications and job interviews useful. After three years in a job I was no longer passionate about, hated going to every day and, I found myself becoming progressively more anxious and depressed. I finally bit the bullet and applied for something totally new! Selling myself in a job application and interview has always been a struggle for me but after listening to your podcast about addressing selection criteria and interviewing for a position - I was offered an interview for both (dream) jobs I applied for, aced both interviews and scored two job offers! It was just the confidence I needed. Now I just need to work out which offer I’m going to accept!
