This podcast is a valuable resource, as there aren't many out there that address these issues so comprehensively, yet still the need for more nuance and clarity particularly when people often are unclear about how to even set boundaries with their ex coparent. The discussion about the necessity of clear and consistently upheld boundaries with ex-partners is a much needed area to explore. It's a crucial part of establishing healthy relationships for everyone involved, especially the children, who shouldn't be caught up in unclear priorities and emotional entanglements between partners and their ex coparent. The host highlights that step-mothers often bring up their partners' lack of boundaries with exes, usually due to conflict avoidance. This lack of boundaries can undermine the new relationship and the children's wellbeing, even if it's masked as being for the kids' benefit. The caution about getting advice from counselors who may not understand step-family dynamics is also important. Advice can be unhelpful or harmful if not contextualized with the unique nuances of the relationship's history and dynamics.
