In The Dark
In the Dark, hosted by Madeleine Baran, is an award-winning investigative-journalism podcast that started in 2016. Its first season looked at the mysterious abduction of Jacob Wetterling in rural Minnesota and the lack of accountability that sheriffs face when they fail to solve cases. Season 2 examined the case of Curtis Flowers, who was tried six times for the same crime. In 2020, In the Dark released a special report on the coronavirus pandemic in the Mississippi Delta. In 2023, In the Dark joined The New Yorker and Condé Nast. “The Runaway Princesses,” a four-part series that asks why the women in Dubai’s royal family keep trying to run away, came out in January. In the Dark is a two-time Peabody Award winner and, in 2019, became the first podcast to win a George Polk Award, one of the top honors in journalism. The program has also received an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award and a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award.

Incredible story

I don't usually write reviews but felt I wanted to for this podcast. This is an amazing piece of journalism. As a citizen of another country I can not believe those in power in this case could be so racist and not seek the truth for the victims, the accused and families of all involved. I cant imagine what the victims families have gone through but surely they would want the right person held accountable? Those in power during this time should be ashamed of themselves and held accountable for their actions. Congratulations to the team that put this together for your efforts to uncover the truth - it is one of the best podcasts I have listened to.
Fantastic!

I wouldn’t say I enjoyed the last season, simply because it was so sad! But that’s the power of an amazing podcast, to be moved in such a way.
A life-changing podcast

I have listened to a lot (A LOT) of true crime podcasts. In the Dark is not your ordinary true crime podcast that retells a story, usually for the benefit of the listeners. The team behind In the Dark are compassionate, dedicated investigative journalists who are committed to shining a light on injustices, for the benefit of the victims and to create change in the judicial system. All three seasons will completely devastate you and at the same time, give you hope that there are people out there who actually care & can make a difference. Thank you In the Dark for everything you have done for these families.
