During the 1940's and 1950s there were a series of cases that involved children in the vicinity of Wigan, some of which remain unsolved to this day. While another perpetrated by Norman Green would be the case that became Albert Pierrepoint's final execution. Ruth Ellis was the last woman to be hanged in England, but her story was not a simple one, with it being likely that experiences she had throughout her life may have contributed towards her actions on Easter Sunday 1955.
