LIKING the people you LOVE Christi Davis

Today's episode is inspired by a talk I heard at BYU Women's Conference this year.
I'm talking about the power we have as mothers to speak possibility into the hearts of our children, and all those around us.
Quote from C.S. Lewis:
"It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible gods and goddesses, to remember that the dullest, most uninteresting person you can talk to may one day be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship."

This is the fourth episode in the series of interviewing my own kids.
Josh is 21 years old, and has been through a lot.
Heads up: we talk about some heavy things in this episode, including substance use and thoughts of suicide.
I'm just so proud of him for how far he's come, and for his courage to tell his story.

Heavenly Father has designed a wonderful plan that includes learning and growing by our own experience.
Part of that plan includes the natural process of maturing.
Just as we cannot force a plant to grow before it's ready, there are some things we cannot teach our children before they are mature enough to understand.
Sometimes we, in our enthusiasm to be good parents, feel the need to teach every little thing using a system of rewards and punishments.
But the truth is that, if we provide the right kind of environment, maturity happens quite naturally.

It's no secret that being a mother is a demanding job.
But there is one thing that I've observed will get mothers feeling frustrated, overwhelmed and resentful faster than anything else: trying to control the wrong things.
In today's episode we'll identify some of the things that are not your job to control, and we'll talk about the one thing that is always yours to control.
That thing is, in fact, your most important job.

I find myself lately in a bit of a slump.
It's not the first, and I know it won't be the last.
So today's episode is kinda for you, but kinda for me.
I'm sharing some of my tried and true strategies for getting through a slump in as healthy of a way as possible.

Chances are, you're aware of some controversy surrounding the recent general Relief Society broadcast, and some things posted on the church's Instagram page.
For me, it has been a good catalyst for personal reflection.
