Acoustic explorations of the vagina
Listen to Your Pussy Podcast

Welcome to the Listen to Your Pussy Podcast. My name is Zoe Awen. This podcast features cutting edge creative research and conversations with real people, including artists, creatives, sacred sexuality wisdom keepers and more, all sharing their stories and perspectives about vaginas and being in a human body! Born from my academic research of sticking a hydrophone up my vagina, listening and recording her, I have begun to bring together the lessons I've learned from deep listening and the crazy conversations I've had. Connecting creativity with sexuality and everyday activism, we also explore the complex and pervasive taboos and shame around female anatomy and experience. We focus on topics such as body image, body literacy, life art, creativity, sexuality, relationships, the history of vulva art, deep listening to your body, menstrual activism, and the obstacles faced in culture and society. Get the creative pussy juices flowing as we share stories, vulnerabilities and hilarious puns. I am an artist, creative educator, life art model, mother, lover and avid listener of my pussy! 02 : Sticking a Microphone Up My Vagina & What is Sound Art

Welcome to another episode! As promised I am not beating around the bush (please assume all puns are intended!) and I’m diving straight into my research process, yep, about sticking a microphone up my vagina. This is a unique and creative approach to the exploration of the fundamental site of female power - the vagina. My journey has spanned decades of artistic and academic evolution to arrive at this unusual and distinctive methodology with insights regarding taboo, shame, empowerment, sexuality and creativity. In this episode I share in more detail about my academic journey, what sound art and soundscapes actually are, what it was like putting a hydrophone (an underwater microphone) up my vagina every day for a whole month, the tech I used to record and listen with, the perceptional shifts that occurred through deeply listening to my body and much more. The four years of my life that I dedicated to this research and my art practice certainly were a ride and I’m pleased now to share more with you and the value of having these conversations. Enjoy! Feel free to also connect with me and see my art and research on Instagram , purchase my vulva inspired paintings and prints via my website, and join in my creative adventures on my Substack blog. Thanks for listening and please subscribe to the podcast where ever you’re tuning in. And if you like the show, I’d love it if you left a review too! 01 : Introducing the Listen to Your Pussy Podcast

Welcome to the very first episode of the Listen to Your Pussy Podcast! I am your host Zoe Awen and I am an artist, life art model, art teacher and an avid listener of my pussy! In this podcast I share cutting edge creative research and have conversations with real people, including artists, creatives, sacred sexuality wisdom keepers and more, all sharing our stories and perspectives about vaginas and being in our bodies! I believe by being more body literate and connected to our bodies we can be more creative, have more fulfilling relationships, feel more pleasure and be more meaningful participants in our own lives. Through self-exploration, creative practice (including putting a hydrophone up my vagina!) and deep listening I have found ways to love and appreciate my body in all its stages and cycles. I am here to share those stories and others’ stories to show you how to cultivate more connection with your body and innate pussy energy to get those creative juices flowing! In this introductory episode I share: * what IS listening to your pussy * where this idea came from * why everyone should listen to their body! * my personal journey getting here * and an introduction into my research This is not a one-off conversation. Talking about our bodies, experiences, especially vulnerable and shameful ones is hard and I have learned, through my creative practice that it is important to create safe spaces and listen attentively to each other’s stories. It is actually HEALING. So this is just the first of a series of episodes in the conversation about our bodies, sexuality, creativity and more! Feel free to also connect with me and find out more about my research on Instagram and my creative adventures on Substack. Thanks for listening and please subscribe to the podcast where ever you’re tuning in. And if you like the show, I’d love it if you left a review too!
